Miss Czech-Slovak US 2026-2027 2nd Runner-Up, Katherine McGee, attended the virtual I-70 Czech Roundtable on August 11th, hosted by Sharon Valasek, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic for Kansas and Missouri.

The quarterly roundtable brought together Czech-American leaders and organizations from Kansas and Missouri to share updates, upcoming cultural events, and opportunities to strengthen and preserve our Czech heritage throughout the region.

During the meeting, Katherine had the opportunity to hear from Josef Dvořáček, Economic Diplomat at the Consulate of the Czech Republic in Chicago, and learn more about the Czech Republic’s diplomatic and economic relationships with the United States, as well as the work of the Consulate across the Midwest.

The meeting also highlighted several exciting developments for the Czech and Slovak communities, including the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the State of Kansas and the Czech government, upcoming cultural festivals and celebrations, and opportunities for Czech and Slovak organizations throughout Kansas and Missouri to connect and collaborate.

As 2nd Runner-Up, Katherine looks forward to continuing to build relationships with Czech and Slovak organizations, learning from community leaders, and using her year of service to help promote and preserve our shared heritage across the United States. 🇨🇿🇸🇰

On August 8th Miss Czech-Slovak US 2026-2027 Karolina Dvořák had the honor of attending Prague Czech Heritage Day in Prague, Nebraska. She enjoyed watching the
Prague Czech dancers, hearing the lively music of the Prague Czech brass band, and getting to see the crowning of the new Prague Czech royalty! Karolina wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this festival happen, and to Christina Kavan, the outgoing Prague Czech Queen, for representing her heritage so well the past 3 years.

Karolina also had the opportunity to briefly visit Czechland Lake. Named for its unique location in the heart of the so-called “Bohemian Alps” of Nebraska, the picturesque 82-surface-acre lake is a testament to the enduring contributions of Czech settlers in the area on local culture.
