2026 changes from previous seasons:
1. Clay Center, Kansas has withdrawn from our league. This changes the location of our June 6 meet to Crete, NE.
2. Swimmers are now allowed to do four individual and one relay event per meet or they can do three individual and two relay events. This is the coaches decision week to week.

Listed below are additional swim meets that are available. If you're interested, please meet with Coach Scott and Nicole so we can register you for the meets. These are optional opportunities.

Here are some Midwestern USA meets options... (not limited to)
-April 25-26 GOAL April 25-26. Deadline: to Coach Dina by the end of the day Monday, April 13th
-May 17th HLA IMX/IMR SCY. Deadline to coach Dina by the end of the day Sunday, May 3rd.
- June 6-7. LSS Lincoln Invite. Deadline to coach Dina by the end of the day Sat. May 23
- July 10-11 Cornhusker State Games (Neb. Residence) Sign up on your own via the web. (Do not need to be USA)
- July 11 - HYAC Fun in the Sun in Hastings Deadline TBA
-Tentative July 18-19 FAST Fremont Deadline TBA
-July 23-26 MW Long Course Championship at Lincoln Woods Pool. Need qualifying times.

To go to the USA meets you need to have a USA membership. To save money we will register USA members under the Beatrice Barracudas. There are a couple of different membership options available. We can help decide which fits you best. These meets do cost extra (splash and event fees) The competition level is a little tougher but they are great meets. Nicole Steinfeldt is willing to help get anyone interested registered with USA. If 18 or turning 18 there is a required class that will need to be taken but it is not difficult.

New this year:
We added pre-season dryland workouts to the practice schedule; details are still TBD.
Each swimmer will need to have an individual or family Wilber Municipal Pool pass. Scholarships from the Wilber Youth Sports Program are available.

Registration is open for the 2nd fall session of Progressive Swim Lessons, which will begin on October 11th. Classes will be offered on Saturday mornings and Monday and Tuesday evenings. Any parents who have kids that are interested in Fall/Winter swim we will be having a parent meeting on Aug 25th and the Beatrice YMCA. The Barracudas are an awesome group of kids and we would love to have your swimmer join.

Nicole Steinfeldt’s husband Matt’s work truck and trailer will pull the swim team through the parade for Czech days. Saturday parade Swim team will be going through if kids want to join.
We will have a kiddie pool and water guns cannot spray the audience per rules but kids can stay cool. Meet in the legion park by 1:30. Look for a white truck with Astro Buildings.

Thank you once again, it has been a pleasure coaching these young athletes and seeing their improvements over just a few short weeks.

Thank you to all the parents for volunteering to time and judge. For helping me communicate with everyone, helping coach, and with making sure that the swimmers where they were supposed to be.

I look forward to seeing all of you again next year and bring a friend along!

We traveled to Clay Center on Saturday and survived the blast furnace that the weather gave us.

12 swimmers participated
36 individual events
6 relays
1st - 2
2nd - 6
3rd - 3
4th - 7
5th - 3
6th - 3

Champs meet is Saturday the 28th in Fairbury. Hope to see you there.

Parents, once again they will be having the coaches/parents relays. Please let me know by Wed noon if you will be participating. We can have more than 1 team!

Great job this weekend @ the Crete meet. It was a full meet, all 8 teams, tougher competition, and alot more swimmers.

320 swimmers were registered to compete.
20 were from Wilber competing in:
57 individual events
8 relays
1st place - 0
2nd place - 3
3rd place - 4
4th place - 8
5th place - 3
6th place - 10

We also received a compliment from one of the other teams coaches for our volunteer parents being great sports for helping and cheering for swimmers on other teams!
