An independent nonprofit preserving, promoting, and celebrating the Corridor's historic, natural, and recreational resources for current and future generations. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor (the Corridor) is where the industrialization of America began with the first water-powered cotton mill in Pawtucket, RI. The development of mill villages followed along the Blackstone River and its tributaries spreading out across the valley in a pattern that can still be seen and experienced today in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The Blackstone Heritage Corridor includes 25 cities and towns in a watershed stretching from Worcester, MA to Narragansett Bay in Providence, RI. The Blackstone Heritage Corridor has many historic sites as well as fabulous recreational opportunities on land and water.

Pond, rock quarries, vernal pool, oak forest and open fields, plus a short talk from a local historian.

Moshassuck River Loop
Sun, Oct. 25 • 9 a.m.
📍 Parking lot at the bend in Sherman Ave., Lincoln, RI (by Fairlawn Country Club)
3 miles • Hard
Passes a dam, a historic cemetery, a balancing boulder and the river.
⚠️ Steep hills and a tricky stream crossing, especially after rain.

Got a coat you don’t wear anymore? Someone in the Blackstone Valley could use it this winter.

Blackstone Heritage Corridor is partnering with One Warm Coat to collect coats at our office. Everything we collect goes to local people who need it, free of charge.

📅 When: Now through Nov. 20th
🕘 Drop-off hours: Tues- Fri, 9am-3pm

What to bring: clean, gently used coats in any size. Children’s coats are especially needed.

Clean out your closets, tell your neighbors, and help keep the Valley warm.

🥾🍂 Two ways to get outside this weekend with the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor!

🍄 Saturday: Mushroom Foray at Brigham Hill Wildlife Area
📅 Saturday, Oct. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Join Clark University PhD student Thomas Roehl and the Grafton Land Trust for a beginner-friendly foray. After a brief intro to fungi, we’ll search the woods and talk about how to find, identify, collect, and preserve mushrooms. October brings popular edibles like Hen of the Woods, Chicken of the Woods, Oyster Mushrooms, and Honey Mushrooms. Bring a basket for any finds that need a closer look!
🥾 About 1 mile on an easy, flat trail
📍 Park at the Community Harvest Project lot, 37 Wheeler Road, and meet at the white gate at the end of N. Brigham Hill Road. Please do NOT park on N. Brigham Hill Road, as it needs to stay clear for farm and resident access.

🦅 Sunday: Turner Reservoir Hike
📅 Sunday, Oct. 18 at 9 a.m.
🥾 2 miles, moderate. Expect some gradual climbs and rocks or roots, so basic fitness is required.
🌲 Boardwalks, stone dust path, and wooded trails

The reservoir is home to great blue herons, and bald eagles have been spotted on occasion. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.

🍂 Fall foliage + pond + beaver dam = a perfect Saturday hike! 🍂

Join us TOMORROW, Saturday, Oct. 10, for a guided hike at Wallis Pond in Douglas State Forest with leader Phil Johanson. We’ll take in great views, cisterns, cellar holes, a waterfall, a beaver dam, and plenty of peak fall color. 🍁

🚲🍂 SNETT Fall Foliage Bike Ride

📍 Meet at the gravel parking lot across from 86 Depot St., Douglas, MA

Join Lauren for a recreational fall foliage ride along the SNETT Trail. This is a trail ride, not a paved path, so come prepared for gravel, sand, and dirt.

🌲 Terrain: Gravel, sand, and dirt. Not paved.

⚠️ Hike Updates: Two Cancellations ⚠️

Due to high winds and rain, we've had to cancel two upcoming hikes:

🥾 Tri-State Marker (Douglas State Forest) — Saturday, Sept. 26 @ 10 a.m.
🥾 Turner Reservoir — Sunday, Sept. 27 @ 9 a.m.

Safety comes first! We're bummed to miss the trails with you this weekend, but we'll be back out there soon. Stay tuned for our next hike announcement.
