Our Creator is a giver, and as we grow in Christ-likeness, we become givers too. That is the heart of our fundraising curriculum called Transformational Living.

Is there any greater way to start the year than surrounded with like-minded leaders, prayer and coffee?! I think not 😁

Join us this Thursday, January 8 at Rustbelt Coffee from 8:30am-10am for Coffee & Conversations. The topic: HOW TO LEAD WITH PRAYER.☕️ This time, Savannah Marten from Bella Vita Network and Jacob Lammers from Cru University of Toledo will be joining us to share how they personally lead with prayer and creatively implement prayer into their champion growth strategy. Come join the conversation as we kick off the year together in community and in prayer.

Pastors,

It appears we may face a food crisis among our low income neighbors. Perhaps the folks in Washington will come to their senses this week? But, if not, we will see 40 million Americans without food stamps.
In the Toledo area, there are more than 66,000 people dependent on SNAP benefits to provide meals for their families. This is an opportunity for the church in Toledo to unify and help fill the gap in these benefits.

Could those of us who operate food, pantries double the number of people we serve by next week? Could those of you who pastor churches who do not operate food banks help resource those of us who do? It would be great if every church created an emergency food drive this weekend. Some of us are forming an ad hoc committee to advocate for solutions to this crisis. If you would like to join, please let myself or Pastor Earl Harris at Vision Ministries know.

Protein sources are especially hard to come by. Canned meat is one solution. We could buy livestock and have them processed as we did during the pandemic. Or, we could buy truckloads of canned meat from a manufacturer or distributor. If anyone has connections in either of those areas, please let me know.

I'm sure there are other great ideas out there we've not yet thought of. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Dear Ministry Leaders,

I don’t know about you, but this week has felt like the longest year. If you’re anything like me, these social spaces have been filled with confusion, division, and volatility with glimpses of hope shining through.

In my very first coaching session this week, I sat with two leaders: one, a former prominent Republican leader proudly wearing Bowling Green gear; the other, a former Democratic leader repping University of Toledo. Together, they now co-lead a nonprofit committed to ending su***de and preventing bullying.

What a powerful and timely reminder that there is far more that unites us than divides us. That’s the power of the cross. Only Jesus can bring true reconciliation and lasting hope.

Leaders, may we be the ones who lift high the name of Jesus, point to what unites us, and lead the way in modeling the Kingdom, especially in times when the world seems most divided.
