CultureSeed CultureSeed is a nonprofit offering Outdoor Immersion & Mentorship in the Columbia Gorge region of the Pacific Northwest.

A rural area with pronounced economic disparities, the Columbia Gorge is also the largest national scenic area in the United States. CultureSeed is the only organization in our region offering year-round Outdoor Immersion and Mentorship for underserved youth with a focus on mental health. Our cornerstone programs are at least a year in duration and many of our youth return year after year. Culture

Happy June! ☀️

Last Saturday we wrapped up the month of May with a trip to Ekone Ranch! Youth spent the day exploring the grounds on foot and horseback, meeting furry and feathered friends, swinging in the sun, and baking cookies to close out the school year with a bang!

A lovely day to reconnect with self and others surrounded by beautiful Ponderosa Pines and the Oak Savanna we love to see in the East Gorge 🌲🌳

This is your chance of trying something new in a breathtaking place!

No prior experience needed!

This is CultureSeed’s biggest fundraiser event of the year, and 100% of proceeds go toward getting more youth outdoors and connected to transformative experiences like this.

As always we have such a great group of youth that participate in our annual Junior Guide Program.🪻✨

Our Junior Guide Program is open to all CultureSeed high school juniors or seniors with previous CultureSeed experience, Junior Guide training is a paid opportunity for youth to be exposed to a wide range of outdoor activities and outdoor leadership training. 🤍

Junior Guides are also paid to facilitate summer adventure trips they sign up for!🌻

For the culminating day of the 2026 Jr Guide Training, participants put the skills they learned this Spring to the test. 📋

We hiked along wildflower laden Hood River Mountain Meadow and groups of 2 and 3 put into action skills in preparedness, communication, wilderness first aid, navigation and plant identification. 🌻🪻

Staff and participants had a great time working together these last few months and we are super proud of this group!🫶🏼👏🏼

Today we celebrate the beauty of the earth and this beautiful region we live in! Cheers to more hours spent outside through our programs 🫶🏼

✨ improve mindfulness

✨ increase vitamin D

Junior Guides in action 💪😎

This session focused on discussions around what it means to be a leader in the outdoors and the attributes that contribute to strong leadership.

They also took on our “10 Essentials” relay race 🧭
Groups worked together to determine the best combination of gear for simulated outdoor scenarios building familiarity with the 10 essentials! This is a common name for a set of safety/emergency gear designed to keep us prepared for unexpected situations in the outdoors.

Because strong leaders aren’t just made on the trail, they’re built through hands on training!
