Family Ties of Westchester, Inc.

Family Ties of Westchester, Inc. We provide peer support, education, and advocacy services to families raising children with emotional or behavioral challenges.

Family Ties offers a wide range of support groups, advocacy services, parent coaching, and connection to community resources, as well as respite and youth development opportunities. We recognize you, the caregiver, as a full partner in planning for your family's success based on your family's unique strengths and culture. The majority of our service staff have struggled, just like you, with their

own children's challenges and have personal experience in accessing services and supports for their own families. We act as the family voice in a variety of meetings to ensure that families' thoughts and concerns are heard. All Family Ties services are free, confidential and community-based. We have a "never give up" philosophy and will be here to support you for as long as you need us.

Teamwork, sunshine, and a little quiet time in nature. 🌿

Our Family Ties team took a step back from our daily work earlier this week for a staff outing to the beautiful Untermyer Gardens right here in Westchester! It was a wonderful opportunity to recharge, connect with one another, and celebrate the heart and soul of our organization—our incredible staff.

When we take care of ourselves and support each other, we can show up even stronger for the families we serve every day. đź’™

Today is International Youth Day, a time to celebrate the energy, creativity, and resilience of the young people shaping our world. 🌟✨

This year’s theme, "Different Contexts, Common Aspirations," highlights youth overcoming severe hurdles worldwide—from economic barriers to geographic isolation. Regardless of their environment, young people share a powerful determination to innovate and drive positive change.

No matter where a young person grows up or what challenges they face, having a reliable circle of support makes all the difference. At Family Ties, we are dedicated to helping our local youth find their voice, build resilience, and access the resources they need to thrive.

How are you encouraging the young leaders in your life today? Drop a message of support in the comments below! 👇💙

August is National Black Business Month, a time to celebrate and invest in the vibrant Black entrepreneurs who make our communities strong.

Black-owned businesses drive local innovation and keep our neighborhoods thriving. This month—and every month—is a chance to honor their impact and help bridge funding gaps by putting our purchasing power where it matters most.

Here’s how you can show your support this August:
🛍️ Shop Local: Seek out Black-owned businesses right here in Westchester—from your morning coffee spot to local retail and professional services.
📢 Spread the Word: Share your favorite Black-owned businesses on social media, leave five-star reviews, and tell a friend.
🤝 Connect & Champion: Build partnerships and advocate for Black business owners in your network.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to support a parent. Today is International Day of Friendship, and it's the perfect reminder of how essential strong bonds are to our emotional resilience and happiness.

For parents and caregivers, finding true peers—the friends who listen without judgment, swap survival stories, and celebrate the small wins—is completely life-changing. These connections give us a soft place to land and remind us that we aren't alone on this journey.

Reach out to a fellow parent or a friend who makes your world a little brighter today, and thank them for being a part of your village. Tag them in the comments below to let them know you're thinking of them!

Taking care of everyone else starts with taking care of yourself. Today is International Self-Care Day, and it’s the perfect reminder that self-care isn’t selfish—it is an essential foundation for resilience and well-being.

For parents and guardians, the daily balancing act can easily leave your own needs at the bottom of the to-do list. But you can't pour from an empty cup. True self-care isn't just about escaping for a moment of quiet; it's about intentionally protecting your mental health, setting healthy boundaries, and giving yourself the grace and space to recharge.

When we prioritize our own wellness, we aren't just doing ourselves a favor—we are modeling healthy habits for our children and showing up stronger for the people we love.

Give yourself permission to pause and prioritize your well-being today, even if it's just for five minutes. You deserve the same care and compassion that you give to everyone else. ✨

We often think of health in terms of nutrition or sleep, but social connections are just as essential to our well-being! Celebrating Social Wellness Month this July reminds us that nurturing positive bonds gives us a soft place to land.

Social wellness is all about building a dependable circle of people who elevate your mood, share your burdens, and celebrate your wins. When we prioritize these everyday connections, we weave a tighter, more resilient safety net for our entire community.

For parents and guardians, leaning into that network is essential. Our Caregiver Support Groups offer a welcoming, judgment-free space to build meaningful connections with peers who truly understand the daily balancing act of family life.

July is BIPOC Mental Health Month—a dedicated time to highlight the unique mental health experiences, strengths, and needs of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities.

Mental well-being is deeply connected to our cultural background, historical context, and lived experiences. At Family Ties, we know how vital it is for families and individuals to have access to supportive spaces that honor their identity and story without judgment.

Because supporting our community means taking care of those who carry so much, we want to remind you of the Caregiver Support Groups we offer. These spaces provide a welcoming environment to share advice, find practical coping tools, and connect with peers who truly understand your journey.
