Clemence, aka Clem, Yasse of Belgium graced our club as our youth exchange student this Rotary year. She'll truly be missed. Clem reminded us of her humor, grace, and remarkable year of experiences (many through her great host families) during our June 10 meeting. "It's not a year in a life, but a life in a year," she said. Wishing you all the best, Clem, as you continue to reach for your dreams. We are proud of our longtime member Ken Galloway, too.
Congrats, Ken! Well-deserved!

What an incredible evening we had last night celebrating Ken Galloway as the recipient of the J. Stanley and Doris Hill Award! Ken’s story is truly inspiring and a reminder of the impact one person can make.
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate such a special moment, and a heartfelt thank you to the White Bear Center for the Arts for providing such a beautiful space for the event.

Club members John Channon and Ben Krupowicz repaired the boardwalk at the Rotary Nature Preserve recently. All part of our ongoing commitment to the preserve, which has included great partners in City of White Bear Lake - Government and Vadnais Lake Area Water Management Organization (VLAWMO). And helping hands from other clubs members.

Our club’s first chili cook off and White Bear Lake Area Historical Society trivia contest was a smashing win. Congratulations to Patty Hall for winning the Chili Cook Off contest, and a special thanks to all of the contestants and attendees for making this a great event! That we were able to include Ukrainian surgeons visiting MN as part of our global grant gave the night so much more.

Join us in person Wednesday morning, March 18, at Rudy's Redeye Grill in White Bear Lake for a particularly special program: We will hear from Adam Hennings, a former outbound exchange student from White Bear Lake who was sponsored by the White Bear Club to Austria in 2004–2005. His accomplishments are very impressive — he is currently working as a diplomat with the U.S. Department of Foreign Service in Seoul, South Korea.
In person: Meeting starts at 7:30 a.m., with social time and coffee before.

Proud of our president-elect Julie Honsa Gullickson, shown facing third from left, at Rotary District 5960 President-Elects training. Julie, 28, is the youngest incoming president in the district, which has 57 clubs. We are excited for Julie's year, beginning July 1. She has been an excellent and active member of the club, and we look forward to her continued leadership.

White Bear Lake Rotarian Carol Nelson met with Bo Rotary Club and staff of the Rural Health Care Initiative in Bo, Sierra Leone, West Africa, on Jan. 8 to work on plans for launching the Rotary International Global Grant, Rotary Fights Malaria. More than 9,000 children will benefit from this two-year grant. Carol presented the Bo club and other representatives with the "coveted" WBL Rotary Club bear.
