Sixth graders at Walnut Creek Middle School in PA collaborate on a quarterly service-learning project. This term, the students are reading the book "A Long Walk to Water," testing water quality, and raising funds for a village in South Sudan.

Students Anvay, Karthik, and Haya worked together on a door-to-door campaign explaining the cause and how each donation can make a difference. They collected $153.25! The school is well on its way to its $2,500 goal.

Pamin-lok oola in Uganda has a total enrollment of 460 students. The entire area lacks access to clean water. Children were forced to walk miles every day to retrieve water, which was often contaminated. They initially found water in local holes, but these would frequently dry up. When that happened, they had to walk nearly two miles to a swamp to collect unsafe water.

Our implementing partner, Drop in the Bucket , recently drilled a new borehole well providing safe water on the school grounds. The students and the surrounding community will benefit from this well for years to come!

Thanks to Westridge School in Pasadena, CA, for supporting this project!

The Plainview-Elgin-Millville School Science Club successfully raised $1,263.22 through their “Penny War” and annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale. The funds will be used to assist their partner school, Saviefe Deme Community School in Ghana, in installing a water pump, PVC piping, and a poly tank with a stand. Access to clean water and improved sanitation after extensive flooding will provide the school with essential support.

Great job, PEM Middle School students! 💧 🎉

Happy Earth Day from H2O for Life! 🌍

Founded in 1970, Earth Day began as a US "teach-in" to protest environmental degradation. Today, it focuses on climate action, sustainability, and reducing plastic pollution.

We're celebrating Earth Day by matching new and increased monthly donations. Through today, your monthly donation will support service-learning opportunities for twice as many local students and help twice as many students worldwide access clean water. Donate now: h2ofor.life/crew💧

Not able to donate today? Here are more ways to celebrate Earth Day:

🌏 Reduce Plastics: Use reusable bags and bottles to reduce plastic waste.
🌍 Conserve Energy: Turn off electronics and appliances when not in use.
🌎 Plant Native: Create pollinator-friendly gardens to support local ecosystems.
🌏 Advocate: Sign petitions and contact political leaders to support environmental policies

Students at Jackson Middle School raised $3,788 for a school in South Sudan through their penny war! Here's how they did it:

💧 Each classroom had a jar to pool donations
💧 Pennies and bills added to that class's total
💧 Nickels, dimes, and quarters were placed in opponents' jars to offset their total, creating some friendly competition!

Project update: Akanyo-Ocipi in Uganda has a total enrollment of 460 students. Their only source of water was an unsafe waterhole shared with livestock, until you helped them access clean water!

Our implementing partner, Drop in the Bucket, drilled a new borehole well, providing safe water on the school grounds. The students and the surrounding community will benefit from this well for years to come! 🥳 💧

Students at the Christian Academy of Knoxville walked for water and raised $3,000 to support the installation of flushable toilets at Nasaruni Academy in Kenya. Because of their strides, the 280 girls at Nasaruni Academy can now spend less time worrying about basic needs and more time focusing on their education and dreaming about the future! 💧 🚽

Students Anderson and Elida live deep in the mountains of Nicaragua and travel two hours by horseback to attend class at Yaró Jordania School. Their teacher manages a multigrade classroom, teaching students from first through sixth grade in the same room. Despite the limitations, these students are determined to show up for their education.

Thank you to Forestville Middle School for pledging to raise funds for toilets and a handwashing station at Yaró Jordania!
