West Virginia Reenactors Association

West Virginia Reenactors Association A tax-exempt, non-profit West Virginia Corporation, the WVRA strives for the highest standards of historical authenticity and accuracy in our impressions.

The West Virginia Reenactors Association is dedicated to the commemoration and preservations of West Virginia's rich Civil war heritage, and to encouraging the popular hobby of Civil War Reenacting within our State. Members of the WVRA portray the appearance and manners of typical citizens and soldiers of Western Virginia, both Union and Confederate, during the crucial period from 1861 to 1865. We

are very much a family-oriented group; we invite full and appropriate participation by all family members of any age and gender. Members of the WVRA share a serious concern with things like event safety and historical scholarship, but we still find a great deal of personal satisfaction and real enjoyment in sharing this extraordinary hobby with each other and the public. Through our appearances in historic battle reenactments of all kinds, in living histories, parades and other ceremonies, as well as visits to schools, clubs, and civic groups, we try to bring the valor and agony of West Virginia's birth during the Civil War to her modern citizens. Your personal or financial support will enable us to continue to bring vital and lively Civil War experiences to a wide variety of today's West Virginians. If you are interested in joining the WVRA, if you'd like more information about our activities, or if you would like to send a tax-deductible contribution to aid the living history efforts of this non-profit historical and educational corporation.

Good luck everyone

DEAR WV REENACTORS, Greetings from the Mountaineer Military Museum, in Weston, WV. I've following you all, and have several friends who are involved with reenacting. As our Season is getting ready to start, I wanted to extend my invitation to visit with us. We invite you to attend and participate in Weston's Annual Memorial Day Parade, Saturday May 23...and the Museum's "VET-Together" following that day. We extend an invitation to use the Museum Grounds should you like to set up a "Civil War History Weekend" event. I just wanted to extend the hand of Friendship and Welcome. If you'd like to check us out, please drop by for a visit. Our first day of this, our 14th Season, is Saturday, April 6.
Respects, Barb McVaney, Executive Director.

OK beginning to understand why Lisa quit several years ago!!!!! This is Tonya Daft. This site has never been inactive. I have managed it since Lisa Quit several years ago almost 10 years I think. I average 3-4 messages a week concerning our group the WVRA and I answer every single one of them. Mostly they are people wanting information on how to become a member. I heard that some were having problems with the site.....but could not get any information as to what the problem was. Even talked to Peter Baxter about it several years ago. I did see where someone change the background and I did not do that!!! Preferred it the way it was but what ever. I get phone calls, email and messages about our group which I pass on to you the WVRA membership. Everyone needs to work together instead of negativity.
Saying someone or something is inactive before understanding why is not working together. We have lost several members. We have several members that are sick or have family members that are dying or sick. Maybe we should be there for them instead of labeling active or inactive especially when they pay their dues and help where they can. If you take the time to scroll this site you will see it is active. And several things have been posted. And in answering members or future members messages should be enough to say something is active. Take care everyone...please be positive.
