Our first drone pilot joined the movement! 🦉

Jonathan Randolph owns Mason-Dixon Drone Services. We met him at a local networking event earlier this month and sat down with him again to talk about the movement. He told us he loves how it connects local businesses with nonprofits and how much good it is already doing around here!

He is excited to help our neighbors any way his drones can, and we are so grateful to have him with us!

Those drones can do a lot more than you might think. With the cold weather coming, his thermal camera can pick up heat loss, moisture and electrical hotspots around a home. He can spot roof and property issues from above, track construction progress for builders and inspect towers and utility lines up close. He also shoots aerial photos and video that help homes, businesses and events stand out online!

This sign was long overdue! 🦉

Carl Brunner stepped up for this movement long before we started sharing these sign photos. When a house fire took almost everything from a local family back in May, he ordered brand new shoes for them on his own!

Then shortly after we adopted our stretch of Old Westminster Pike, Carl adopted a road of his own to clean up too!

Carl also owns Paradigm Fi****ms Training in Westminster. Their team of certified instructors includes military and law enforcement veterans. Classes cover everything from your Maryland HQL and carry permit to CPR and pepper spray training.

Thinking about getting your HQL or just want to feel more prepared? They teach out of Westminster and Hanover and even host free events at both!

Remember the Big Guy's offer? 🦉

When Aaron from Big Guy Moving and Hauling joined the movement, he told us to call him anytime a local nonprofit needed help with a move. Then The Shepherd's Staff - Carroll County, MD reached out needing volunteers for a big one. They needed their back to school supplies taken to a local church and their holiday supplies brought back.

The plan was to haul 100 totes, several containers of inventory and countless bags of coats in whatever cars and trucks they could round up. So we reached out to Aaron and he wrote back right away. "This is a no brainer for me. Absolutely, we'd be happy to help."

He told them not to worry about any of that. His crew of 5 guys showed up with a 26 foot box truck and handled the whole move from start to finish without charging a thing!

Those guys had already put in a long day of work before they got there. You would never know it, because they kept smiling and joking until the very last bin came off that truck!

Big Guy Moving & Hauling is the crew you want for your next move. It is extremely clear why they earned such great 5 star reviews so quickly!

A familiar face just joined the movement! 🦉

Charleen Poole is the stylist behind Hairy Styles By Charleen. Our team has been getting haircuts from her for a long time now!

We already have a barber in Westminster and a hairstylist in Eldersburg in the movement. Charleen is our first hairstylist up in the Manchester and Hampstead area!

If you live up that way and need someone new to do your hair, she is the one we would send you to. You can find her at Monarch Beauty & Spa in Manchester.

We are so excited to have her with us and would love to team up on something down the road!

We are so excited to finally make this one official! 🦉

The Carroll County Veterans Independence Project is now part of the movement! They help local Veterans and their families with rides, earned benefits, shelter, health care, job training and so much more.

Ryan has known Mike over at CCVIP for a while now. At their shuttle van unveiling in September, we got to see even more of what their team does. This partnership was only a matter of time!

Yesterday we got together at their Health Resource Fair in Westminster to announce it. One of their Veterans also gave us a challenge coin!

We had some great conversations with their executive director Jason about lending a hand with banners, van decals, and maybe even teaming up on an event in the new space they have in the works!

Welcome, CCVIP! We cannot wait to connect again soon 🤝

An entire school just joined the movement! 🦉

The Montessori School of Westminster is officially our first school partner! A group of parents started this nonprofit private school back in 1974.

Today kids from age 2 through 9th grade learn hands on there, at their own pace and right alongside classmates of different ages. Their 27 acre campus even has woodlands with a hiking trail and a stream, where students study animal habitats and wilderness survival skills!

Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of teaching each child, so the school counts on donations and local sponsors to close that gap.

Sarah Delaney found us on Facebook and reached out to ask if we had ever worked with a nonprofit school. One meeting later, we were all excited to make it official!

The first thing we are helping with is putting out banners for their Touch A Truck event on Saturday, October 24 from 10 AM to 1 PM. Kids get to climb aboard trucks and specialty vehicles and meet the local heroes behind the wheel.

🎉 We have a winner! 🎉

Congratulations to Gina, the winner of our photography session giveaway with Melisa Ann Photography!

Back in September 2009, Gina was in a very bad car accident while 12 weeks pregnant. She told us she probably should not have survived. She did, and so did her baby!

In the 17 years since, she and her daughter have never had a photo session together. In her words, "A photo doesn't just capture a moment. It captures a time frame in life."

Another giveaway she won a few months back fell through. When she saw this one she thought, "Maybe this is the time that I could win this for real!" This time it is real! She was so happy and grateful when we handed over her gift certificate.

Gina won a 1 hour session with Melisa in Carroll County, 75+ edited images and a print release to print them as often as she wants. She also gets a signature Melisa Ann candle and tee.

A huge thank you to Melisa for making this happen! Family photos are what she does best. Give Melisa Ann Photography a follow and you will see why.

Your closet can do some good this week 👟

Village West Pilates in downtown Westminster is holding a secondhand sale of donated workout clothes this Saturday to raise money for free Pilates classes!

First, you donate the workout clothes you no longer wear by Thursday. Then on Saturday the studio sells the donations at their closet sale during the Oyster Stroll. All of the money goes toward paying their instructors so they can teach free classes for our community. They expect to offer the first ones in early 2027.

The free classes will be trauma informed, which means they are taught with extra care around choice, pacing and comfort. Anything that does not sell will be donated to Springboard Community Services to help survivors of domestic abuse here in Carroll County.

They are taking clean, gently used activewear, athleisure, sneakers, bags and fitness accessories. You can drop them off at Village West, Run Moore or Cultivated on Main Street. Brands they are looking for include lululemon, Athleta and Nike. Ravens and Orioles gear is welcome too!

The sale runs Saturday from 12pm to 4pm at 18 W Main St. Anyone who donates gets first pick at 11:30am. You do not need an Oyster Stroll ticket to shop. Stop in and check out the studio while you are there!

Clean out your closet by Thursday and come shop Saturday! 🤝
