Last Thursday, we kicked off a cohort of Penn-Mar Human Services learners. Over the next several weeks, they will be learning essential digital skills and earning NorthStar Digital Literacy certificates to validate their learning.

We had a great first class, thanks to the curriculum tuning of our own Jack Bayne and active participation of the group. We are looking forward to seeing what this cohort will accomplish together!

Thank you to the Penn-Mar Foundation for funding this series of classroom instruction and side-by-side appointments.

Scott v Bot went down last Thursday at Covalent Spirits!

The judged rounds went to Scott, but things got interesting as customers tried their own rounds, and the bot started to gain traction, winning the publicly voted competition. We need more data... so we'll be doing this again!

Round 3 of judging is an interesting one to highlight - the prompt was "a festive birthday in Dundalk, MD" - the bot ultimately took the victory with a bright blue curacao concoction that we all agreed most embodied Dundalk. Although the better tasting drink was Scott's chocolate cake inspired shooter, the bot was voted to the top for better meeting the assignment.

It was educational - and tasty - to run these tests! We'll run a test at our Nov 18 anniversary party ($25 for 25 years) at Covalent - don't miss the next opportunity to participate in an epic cocktail showdown!!

Thank you Jenn, whose vision and skills brought this event to life, and Scott for your expert crafting and creativity, even while feeling a bit under the weather -- you rock and are the resounding winner!

Don't ya know - it's !

We are proud to work with the Literacy Council of Carroll County, MD, helping people interact with and understand this dynamic world we're in. Together, we teach people how to navigate the digital world, spot scams, and keep themselves and their data safe.

Every day, your patience and compassion can be an invitation for people to learn more, understand more, and be more—even if you're not a literacy council tutor or a digital navigator—although we'd be happy to have you!!!

If this work inspires you, ask CTIC and the Literacy Council about volunteering, or come to us to learn more about how you can make your work, lessons, and language more accessible.

Thank you to the Board of County Commissioners of Carroll County for recognizing the value of our work and the people we invest in. We'll see you in October for (Oct 4-10).
