Voting in Massachusetts:
The Board of Directors is reminding all to go out and vote tomorrow and are asking you, your family & friends to vote "NO" on question 9.
Question 9 - Fi****ms Regulation, is touting Chapter 135 is making Massachusetts "safer" so I asked an AI on my computer a few questions - check out my questions & answers below:

Question: Before MA passed Chapter 135 was is okay to make a gun (ghost gun \ gun kit) and register it without a serial number?
Answer: No, you could not register a fi***rm without a serial number in Massachusetts, even before Chapter 135 took effect in 2024. Note: Ghost Guns and kits ARE legal if they contain a serial number.

Question: Before MA passed Chapter 135 was is okay to modify a gun to allow it to fire automatically?

Winter Trap:
Heads up folks! Winter trap is moving from Saturday to Sunday this upcoming weekend. That's because there's an event at the pavilion on Saturday @ 2PM. Winter trap will return to Saturdays again on November 14th! (and don't forget that Nov 14th is also Fall cleanup day!)

Weekly Sunday Breakfast: Starting on Sunday Nov. 1st from 8am-11am.

Earl Shaw/Joe Jesus Memorial Shoot: Saturday December 5 @ 1PM at the Stony Brook Field of Honor. $25 Entry fee -- Louis Class Scoring! Pizza in the Lyceum post shoot. 1 Round of Singles. 1 Round of International with a round or two of Adios at the end. You need $25 -- Sh***un -- 3 boxes of trap loads -- ear/eye protection. Prize money is determined by "Lewis Class Scoring" which means anyone, regardless of ability, could walk away with prize $$$! As always, the cheap, but highly coveted trophy will be presented to the shooter who shoots the best overall score after the results are handicapped using the 2025 Greater Lowell Trap League averages!

Kids Christmas party: This year's party is being hosted by the Kohl’s again. I've been asked to pass on some information so here it is: This year’s kids Christmas party will be held in the hall at Stony Brook on Sunday December 6th from 12PM to 3PM. This is open to kids 10 years old and under. Member's kid's \ member's grandkids \ wait-list applicant kids all acceptable. Food & kid drinks will be served. Santa will be arriving as well with gifts. If you're interested in attending here's what you need to do: RSVP at: [email protected] by November 25th. Please include child's name, age, and interest within the email. (The sooner you RSVP the better it is for Mrs. Claus to go shopping for your child).

2027 Calendars: Jimmy Recks has once again dropped off Ducks Unlimited calendars behind the bar for sale for $60. Bottom line, each week a gun is raffled off giving you 52 chances to win a gun, and you can win more than once! Plenty of calendars left and they make great Christmas gifts! Buy one today! Archery Tournament Update: Drew Green (BOD) has informed me that Sundays tournament is being rescheduled to Saturday, October 10th at 10AM – again, this is due to the weather this weekend.

Cook Shack: Thanks to Brian Stripp (BOD) and Rick McHugh. They recently added a pull-down stair to the cook shack which will allow us some storage space in the ceiling.

Horseshoe Tournament Update:
Due to the likelihood of rain this Saturday, we are erring on the side of caution and moving the tournament to next Saturday, October 3rd.
Schedule:
• Check-in: 8:30 AM – 9:15 AM
• Cost: $15
• Play Starts: 9:20 AM
Because of the schedule change, registration is reopened—feel free to add your name to the roster!

Pheasant Hunting:
John Dyer is once again scheduling a hunt this year, set for some time in October.
• Cost: ~$350–$500 (Includes hunt, transportation, food, drinks, and tips for the guide & bus driver)
• Capacity: Limited to 12 hunters
• Gear: Must bring your own
• Priority: Returning hunters from last year get first priority. Remaining spots will be filled as openings become available.

Annual Dues: Heads up folks… Labor Day is just a right around the corner. Labor Day signals the end of summer and signals it’s time to pay your dues. NOTE: dues are $150 per year and payable in September --- you will not be getting a bill!! (Life members and wait-list folks, please ignore) Members' dues are required to be paid by September 30th. Fall Trap Shooting: The Stony Brook Fall trap league will kick off on Wednesday, September 9th. Shooting will start at 4:30 with the last line going off at 6PM Cost $10 - to cover 25 clays and raffle at the end of the season.

Any shooters who know they will be arriving close to 6PM are encouraged to reach out to Mark Duffy and he will be sure to keep the field open until you arrive.

Shooters FIRST score will be used for the evening’s competition and shooters are welcome to shoot another round if they desire. Like last year, after shooting, 3 man teams will be randomly drawn at the club house and the team with the highest points will win credit toward the final banquet festivities/prizes. Shooters handicap will be their GLTL average. Non-GLTL shooters are encouraged to shoot and they be assigned a handicap by the committee. THIS IS A FUN SHOOT! All interested shooters are encouraged to attend. Shooters are invited to the lounge after they shoot where the night's scoring will take place once all shooting has been completed. This league will run for 6 weeks, and you do not need to make every shoot. You may also bring guest!

$15,000 Raffle – Great job folks. The raffle was a big success. Big thanks to all who bought & sold tickets. Some of the big ticket sellers were: Charlee Bagni, Arnie Price, Cliff Westland & Jaybird! Banquet – The past Sunday was the Stony Brook Banquet. The day was filled with plenty of sunshine and great food & drink. Thanks to cooks: Johnny & Tim Dyer, Joel Grant, Tom O’Donnell, Mark Brennen, Zach Swanfeld, Brendan Benecchi, Phil Green, and Vinny Dirico. Big Deer Contest - Hunting season is almost here. We are looking for the heaviest deer taking in New England with a verified weight tag or weighed in at Stony Brook. The winner gets the value of money for hunting license and his name on the Deer Plaque.

The Stony Brook Fish & Game Club is hosting a $15,000 raffle that might interest you and the drawing is fast approaching.

We are giving away three $5,000 prizes (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place). $15,000 Raffle Square Sheet 2: The latest square sheet was filled Wednesday night. Congratulations to Mike Russo who is the latest winner of 5 tickets to the big $15,000 drawing. Another square sheet has been posted!

Stony Brook Bar Hours: Robert Russo, the Bar Manager, has clarified that Bar hours “for the weekends” during summer months will be 2PM to 6PM. As usual, on weekdays, the Bar opens at 2PM.
