Our Mission is to cultivate a community known for strong schools, responsible governance, and a strong sense of community, where families flourish, businesses prosper, and community engagement lays the groundwork for shared success.

We’ve set ten Core Values that anchor everything we do in pursuit of this Mission—more to come on that.

You don’t have to run for office to make a big impact in your community (although that’s great too)! Serving on a local board or commission lets you help shape the Westerville that future generations will inherit.

Apply by Friday, Oct. 16. Visit www.westerville.org/applybc to find where you can best lend your time and talents, and then apply!

A passionate community engaged in civic duty? That’s Good for Westerville.

Interested in serving your community? Applications are open for vacancies on City Boards and Commissions.

Openings include the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Uptown Review Board, Personnel Review Board, Income Tax Board of Review and Volunteer Fire Fighters’ Dependents Fund Board.

Interested applicants should visit Westerville.org/ApplyBC to view vacancies, term lengths and review the Boards and Commissions Handbook. Applicants must:

—Be a resident of the City (residing within the corporate limits of the City of Westerville for at least 6 months)
—Be a registered elector
—Be able to attend in-person meetings.

How’s this for an encouraging start to our week? Last week, 4th Friday attendees created 75 notes of hope and encouragement to lift the spirits of those served by the Waymakers Foundation. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

The Waymakers Foundation helps individuals and families in central Ohio rebuild from hardship with dignity and compassion.

Visit our tent outside the old Middlefield Bank to say hello and fill out a card of encouragement for someone in need! In the meantime, here’s how you can support this organization:

Last week, Council Chair Westerville with Megan announced a six-month pause on city council decisions relating to the redevelopment of 64 E. Walnut St., asking a small committee of council members to meet with key community stakeholder organizations.

The road to thoughtful progress is never easy, and there’s no doubt the dialogue around this matter has been tense. But that’s community, isn’t it? It takes passionate engagement, respectful discourse, and a willingness to focus on what bonds us while seeking to understand divisions.

When we take a pause, we can see things for what they are: a passionate community filled with neighbors who care enough to speak up and out in pursuit of protecting what they love about Westerville.

We wish the committee and community stakeholders the best. Thank you for your willingness to serve and work together toward a solution.

The Westerville Public Library Board of Trustees is accepting applications through Friday, Sept. 18, to fill a vacancy. WPL board members play a crucial role in supporting operations and shaping the future of our beloved community library.

We had the privilege of attending Uptown Westerville Inc. 's Uptown Forward program last week. It was a great sight to see so many members of our community gathered to consider how we might continue to work together as a team to build and sustain this amazing community we all love.
