Today we share the sad news that Misty Kleman, our Director of Nursing, will be moving on from her position with the Mercer County Health District. Misty has been with us since September of 2020, when she answered the call for help during the COVID crisis as a Public Health Nurse. She quickly advanced to Assistant Director of Nursing in December of 2021, and was finally named Director of Nursing in November of 2023.

Throughout her time with MCHD, she exemplified the very best of public health nursing through her unwavering dedication to serving our community. Her leadership, organization, and compassion have left a lasting mark on our organization and on the countless residents whose lives she touched. Her contributions cannot be overstated, and she will be greatly missed. We wish her nothing but success as she pursues new opportunities and the next chapter of her career. We know she will continue to make a positive difference wherever she goes.

As we begin the search for our next Director of Nursing, we encourage qualified nursing professionals with a passion for public health to consider joining our team.

It’s a quick and fascinating read with a very close connection to Ohio. Sam Quinones, the book’s award-winning author, and Lisa Roberts, City of Portsmouth City Public Health Department (retired) who was central to the story, will join the discussion. Professor Dan Skinner, PhD, and host of the podcast Prognosis Ohio, will serve as the program moderator.

Even if you don’t have time to read the book, we hope you will join us for what will certainly be a fascinating discussion.
