Nevada Youth Empowerment Project is looking for a church kitchen, community kitchen, or commercial kitchen space to support our youth-led baking fundraiser, Sweet Steps Forward ๐Ÿง๐Ÿ’›

Sweet Steps Forward gives young women the chance to build real-life skills through baking, packaging, customer service, teamwork, responsibility, and fundraising ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿคโœจ

We are looking for a kitchen space that may be available for occasional use, possibly once or twice a month depending on orders and scheduling ๐Ÿ“…๐Ÿด

A good kitchen space would include:

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Basic kitchen equipment
๐Ÿงผ A clean and safe environment
๐Ÿฅฃ Counter space for prepping and packaging
โ„๏ธ Refrigerator or storage space if available
๐Ÿ“… Flexible scheduling
๐Ÿค Willingness to support a local nonprofit
๐Ÿ’› A heart for helping young women build life skills

We are open to churches, community centers, schools, restaurants during off-hours, shared kitchens, or other organizations with approved kitchen space ๐Ÿซโ›ช๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

This is a meaningful way to support local young women without needing to make a financial donation ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’›

NYEP can discuss scheduling, cleanliness expectations, supervision, and any reasonable kitchen-use fees or partnership details ๐Ÿ“โœจ

Please reply if you have kitchen space available or know someone who may be interested ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿช๐Ÿ’›

We opened our doors for monthly tours because we believe the work should be visible. Not photographed and captioned. Actually seen.

Come watch what it looks like when adults show up the same way on hard days as easy ones. When the culture is honest. When young women are held to real expectations by adults who mean it.

That's what builds trust with this generation. Next tour at 1369 Faland Way. RSVP:

Thank you, Reno Food Systems, for another fantastic class!

We had a great time making a delicious Cobb salad and learning how to create several tasty homemade dressings. There's nothing better than learning new kitchen skills and enjoying fresh, healthy food together.

Huge thank you to Legrand for such a fun and meaningful day! ๐ŸŒฎโค๏ธ

Their staff joined our residents to create an amazing taco bar, and we had the best time cooking, sharing a meal, laughing together, and building community. Moments like these remind us how powerful connection can be.

Weโ€™re so grateful for the time, kindness, and energy everyone brought to the table โ€” literally! Thank you for making it such a special day.

Something we hear often from people who come to our open house:

"I didn't realize adults could work with young people this way." What they're seeing isn't a special technique. It's what happens when a program sets a real culture, holds real expectations, and has adults who show up the same way every day, whether it's a good day or a hard one.

Trust isn't built through warmth. It's built through proof. If you believe young women in Reno deserve adults who actually show up for them, not just show up, this is a good week to act on that.

Next tour is coming up at 1369 Faland Way. RSVP: https://form.jotform.com/260896175540060

This week, our Executive Director named something the sector keeps in the private conversation and off the public record.

Nothing is working at scale. The people with the data know it. And the entire system, from practitioner to funder to elected official, is organized around not saying so.

If you work in, fund, or lead in this space, this is the piece worth reading this week.

There is a conversation happening in private that is not happening in public. It happens in the car after the board meeting. In the text thread between executive directors who trust each other enough to be honest. After the conference panel ends and the microphones go off. It sounds like this: Nothi...

NYEP residents had a wonderful day at Andelin Farm for Baby Animal Days!

Residents enjoyed meeting the animals, spending time outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, and making Some memories. Family days give residents the opportunity to relax, have fun, and get to know one another in new ways outside of their daily routines.

We are so grateful for community partners who help make experiences like this possible for our residents and families. If your organization would ever like to donate an experience or contribute to a future family day outing, we would love to connect!
