On behalf of WCFA Local 3226, we would like to congratulate Milan Mrakich on his appointment as City Manager of West Covina, approved during the June 2, 2026 City Council meeting. 🎉
Since stepping into the role of Acting City Manager in May 2025, Milan has been a strong advocate for the West Covina Fire Department. His commitment to firefighter health and safety has led to important station improvements, critical equipment upgrades, and continued investment in the resources our members need to serve the community effectively.

Last night we had the honor of hosting .law at Station 122 and showing him one of the saunas he generously donated to our members at Local 3226. 🔥

This donation means more than just equipment. It’s an investment in firefighter wellness, recovery, and taking care of the people who serve our community every day!
Pedram Law has also been a continued supporter of our golf tournaments and many other charity and WCFA community events throughout the years. 💪🏻

We’re extremely grateful for the support and proud to have partners like .law standing behind the fire service. Thank you again for your generosity and continued support of our union and WCFA Relief Fund 🚒🔥

🔥 Introducing our Unions April Firefighter of the Month: Engineer Ryan Schwartz 🔥

Engineer Ryan Schwartz was hired with the West Covina Fire Department in September 2011 as a Firefighter Paramedic and was promoted to Engineer in December 2015. 🚒

Engineer Schwartz serves a key role as our Union Vice President, a member of the TEMS team, and a Public Information Officer. Committed to enhancing operations, Engineer Schwartz led the effort to upgrade every unit with FLIR thermal imaging cameras, ensuring our crews are better equipped in the field.

Beyond the firehouse, Engineer Schwartz and his wife April have been married for 14 years and are raising their two daughters, ages 13 and 11. Off duty, he enjoys coaching his daughter’s softball team, spending time outdoors hiking, and making the most of family time. Engineer Schwartz is also a lifelong Dodgers fan since the 1988 World Series and a dedicated Ducks Hockey supporter. His loyalty to team, tradition, and community shows in everything he does on and off the job!

Proudly rooted in a strong fire service family, his commitment to public safety runs deep. His wife, April, a former paramedic, now teaches EMS and public safety. His father is retired from LA County Fire, and his uncle retired from Long Beach Fire.

Thank you, Engineer Schwartz, for your continued dedication and hard work as Union Vice President. 💪🏻🔥 🚒

On March 26th, Engine 121 and Rescue 121 responded to an auto vs. bicyclist incident involving a young rider whose bike was severely damaged.
We’re happy to share that he is recovering well, and today our union had the opportunity to deliver a brand new bike to him!
Moments like these remind us that our job goes beyond the call! 🚒🚲
