Let's fill the courtroom and wear your Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary swag!!!!

Legal update:

Can you believe it has been one year and a fortune lost since we came under an intentional attack by individuals to shut Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary down and to try to ruin our reputation with so many Government agencies? For what reason was this done? It makes no sense to us at all. Now under God’s authority we are about to find out.

With the motions to dismiss filed by Andrew Willetts, Leann Beehler, and Ronald J. Kahn having been denied, we are finally able to proceed with depositions in this case. A deposition is a formal, out-of-court/not open to the public, sworn testimony given by a witness or party in a lawsuit, occurring during the discovery process. It is recorded by a court reporter and will be videotaped to lock in testimony, assess evidence, and prepare for trial, with the witness subject to the penalty of perjury. Perjury is the criminal offense of willfully and knowingly making a false statement while under oath or affirmation regarding a material matter in a legal proceeding, affidavit, or official document. It requires intent to deceive, rather than a mistake, to be considered a serious, often felony-level crime. The week of March 16 we will be deposing all three of them. We are eager to learn more about how, who, and why Shalom has been targeted by these individuals.

The next important date is April 22, when the court will be ruling on our motion for summary judgment. A summary judgment is a pre-trial ruling by a judge that resolves all or part of a lawsuit without a full trial. It is granted when there is no genuine dispute over the material facts of the case, allowing the judge to decide that one party is entitled to judgment as a matter of law. We will be asking the court to dismiss the claims against Shalom filed by Willetts and We Love Farmington (which is actually Andrew Willetts, Leann Beehler, and Bruce Beehler). This hearing will take place at the Washington County Courthouse, Room 1254, at 10:00 am. It is open to the public and we hope many of you can attend to show your support for Shalom.
