The Washington County Master Gardeners were honored to be hosted by the owners Steve and Angela of Sanger House Gardens in Milwaukee today. The gardens were gorgeous and we learned so much about garden design and new plants. The owners host weddings and events in their very tranquil gardens. You hardly knew you were in the city. Truly a garden oasis.

A Thank You Note to the Washington County Master Gardeners from Blue Lotus.

Lisa Burns, Terry Hinz, and Tracy Thomas of the Washington County Master Gardeners presented two gardening workshops through the Slinger Parks and Recreation Program at the end of May. There was an adult and a children’s beginner gardening workshop held on consecutive weeks.

These workshops introduced the fundamentals of gardening. Participants learned about essential gardening principles including soil basics, plant selection, watering practices, pests, and common beginner mistakes. The class also included a planting activity where participants planted seeds to take home.

Yesterday the Washington County Master Gardeners planted the annual flower bed at the County Fair Park. We also amended the soil, fertilized and mulched the perennial garden bed. Thank you to the gardeners who helped and thank you to those that have signed up to help maintain the beds this year.
