Serving North Hudson's veterans and communities since 1919. Throughout northern Hudson County, NJ an The American Legion, Inc., is a U.S.

wartime veterans organization formed in Paris, on February 16, 1919, by three officers of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF). The American Legion was chartered by the U.S. Congress on September 16, 1919. It is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, and has a legislative office in Washington, D.C. The Legion played the leading role in the drafting and passing of the Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944, otherwise known as, the "GI Bill." In addition to organizing commemorative events, volunteer veterans operating through The American Legion support activities and provide assistance at Veterans Administration hospitals and clinics. The Legion is active in issue-oriented United States politics. Its primary political activity is lobbying on behalf of interests of veterans and service members, including support for veterans benefits such as pensions and the Veterans Health Administration. The veterans organization has also historically promoted "Americanism".

Another day, another reminder of why we do this.

A veteran had the chance to move into an assisted living facility thanks to Joseph Roque… but didn’t have the money for a rental truck. The American Legion and Student Veterans Organization at Seton Hall University showed up with the manpower. NJVSA covered the truck and everything else needed to make the move happen.

No red tape. No “sorry, we can’t help.” Just veterans and community stepping up so one of our own could take a real step forward.

This is what it looks like when organizations actually work together.

Grateful for the American Legion partnership and proud of what our team continues to make possible.

Almighty God, we thank you for the privilege of honoring our fallen heroes today. As we look across these fields, now bright with the stars and stripes, our hearts are filled with gratitude.
Bless the hands that labored this morning—Post 18 Legionnaires and Troop 223 Scouts.
Oh Lord God, we commit these sacred grounds and these flags into your keeping. Just as your guardian angels stand watch over those who rest here, protect these symbols of freedom. Send us forth with a renewed spirit of patriotism, ready to live lives worthy of the legacy of freedom they left us.
In your holy name, we pray.
