August 14 - While today is National Women's Empowerment Day in the U.S.A., we want to share this celebration with women throughout the world, especially in Tanzania, recognizing their strength, resilience, and contributions to their communities!

At Tanzania Life Project, women's empowerment is much more than a phrase. It’s one of the four core programs that accompanies every clean water project we build.

When a village partners with TLP, women and men participate in separate empowerment seminars where they discuss topics such as human rights, gender respect and equality, leadership and the important role every person plays in building a stronger community. Village by-laws are adopted to protect women and children, and women are encouraged to serve in leadership roles on village committees that help guide the future of their community.

We think one of the greatest forms of empowerment begins with something as simple as clean water. When women and girls no longer spend hours each day walking to collect water, they gain time for education, work, caring for their families, and participating in community life.

Today, we especially celebrate the remarkable women of Tanzania who are leading, teaching, serving, and helping transform their villages. It is an honor to partner with them.

As a volunteer with Tanzania Life Project, I've always dreamed of hosting a race or walk to help promote our mission. Thanks to the vision and energy of one of our newest volunteers, Abdilahi Jama AJ, that dream became a reality! Tanzania Life Project is now an official charity partner for the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend (October 3–4).

For a small nonprofit like ours, it's the best of both worlds. We get to partner with an outstanding race organizer, Twin Cities In Motion, while inviting people to support a race weekend that is already well known and loved.

My sweet husband, John, has completed a number of marathons and half marathons over the years. This time, though, he's chosen to run the 5K alongside some of our grandchildren to show them that using our abilities to help others is one of life's greatest joys.

John and I have had the privilege of traveling to Tanzania many times, and we've seen firsthand the tremendous need for clean water in rural villages. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, Tanzania Life Project has completed a sustainable clean water project every year since 2005, bringing safe water to villages of 5,000–10,000 people every year. This year we're celebrating our 22nd clean water project.

One of the things I love most about our work is that it doesn't take a huge gift to make a lasting difference. Just $35 provides one person with sustainable access to clean water for life. Every donation, no matter the size, helps move us one step closer to another village receiving this life-changing gift.

If this mission speaks to you, I hope you'll consider sponsoring John and becoming part of it. Whether you give $35 to change one life or choose another amount, you'll be helping provide families with something many of us take for granted every day—clean, safe water.

I may be older and my marathon days behind me, but I can always clock a few miles in a 5K for a good cause! My children, grandchildren and I will be running during the Twin Cities Marathon Weekend (October 3-4) as part of Team Tanzania Life Project. Our goal is to raise money to support the mission....

A handshake is more than a greeting—it's a promise.

At Tanzania Life Project, we don't simply build clean water systems. We build partnerships.

We're excited to begin our newest project in the Village of Mloda, where we'll work closely with community leaders and residents to create a sustainable clean water system.

Together, we'll lay the foundation for a future in which the community is equipped to own, operate, and maintain the system long after our work is complete.

Because lasting change happens when we work together.

Last year, we asked Josephina, "What is the first thing you would do if clean water access was available in your village TODAY?"

Before people can dream bigger, they need the basics. Clean water is the beginning.
It's the first step toward unlocking human potential. When basic needs are met, families don't just survive—they begin to flourish.

As funding is secured, It is our hope that Josephina's village (population 8,619) will receive a sustainable clean water system this year! You can help make this happen!

Three little children.

One simple water tap.

Their futures forever changed.

What looks ordinary to us represents opportunity, dignity, health, and hope. Because when clean water arrives in a village, so do the possibilities that follow.

Clean water is only the beginning.

Will you help us create more beginnings? Donate today at TanzaniaLifeProject.org

🎉A remarkable honor for Bahi Makulu Village—and a powerful affirmation of the impact of Tanzania Life Project's work.🎉

Our recently completed water project was selected for a visit by Tanzania's Uhuru (Freedom) Torch, a national symbol that highlights projects making significant contributions to development, wellbeing, and community progress. 🇹🇿

For Tanzania Life Project, this recognition reflects what we strive for in every village: sustainable clean water, improved health, greater opportunity, and stronger communities. 💪

When a community gains access to clean water, everything changes. We are grateful to our donors and partners whose support continues to make that transformation possible. 💝
