At this week's Wayzata Rotary Club we will be hearing from Trish Wehling from MADD.

11:45 am - 1:00 pm
Lunch will be served

Meeting Location:
Wayzata American Legion
949 Wayzata Blvd
Wayzata MN 55391

“Trish Wehling became involved with MADD after the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Jordan, who was killed by a drunk driver in 2013 at just 18 years old. Since joining MADD as a volunteer in 2018, Trish has transformed unimaginable grief into purpose, becoming one of the organization’s most dedicated advocates and supporters. In honor of Jordan’s memory, Trish founded Team Run for Jordan, which has become the largest Move with MADD walk team in the nation and region and has raised more than $100,000 to support MADD’s mission. Her fundraising efforts help provide critical victim services to families navigating the devastation of impaired driving and support prevention efforts to stop these tragedies before they happen. Through her unwavering advocacy, volunteerism, and commitment to honoring Jordan’s legacy, Trish continues to remind others that impaired driving deaths are 100% preventable, and that together, we can make a difference.”

This week at Wayzata Rotary Club, Dave Snider, Sr. Partner of The Redemption Project was our speaker. His topic was on Incarceration in America.

The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world with 737 prisoners per 100,000 individuals as of July 2017. This surpasses the per capita incarceration rate of the Russian Federation and China combined.

The Redemption Project was formed to serve an unfulfilled need in our society. Other organizations that address various aspects contributing to recidivism rates in the United States already exist; however, none devote their focus to finding partners willing to mentor, support, and/or employ justice-impacted individuals. We assign our students Senior Partners while they are still incarcerated and upon release provide TRP Associates with meaningful financial support and, perhaps most importantly, employment opportunities with employers who have been identified as felon friendly, second chance employers.

Thank you for visiting Wayzata Rotary Club Dave!

Today’s meeting at Wayzata Rotary looked a little different—in the best way. Instead of a scheduled speaker, we enjoyed a relaxed lunch and great conversation with one another.

We also had the pleasure of hearing from one of our members about her incredible travel experiences in Japan—full of culture, perspective, and inspiration.

A great reminder that sometimes the most meaningful meetings are the informal ones.
