New Jersey has taken important steps toward building a stronger mental health crisis response system. 💙

That system includes three critical pieces: 988 for someone to talk to, mobile crisis teams for someone to respond, and crisis receiving and stabilization centers (CRSCs) for a safe place to get help.

New Jersey recently invested $16.45 million in five regional CRSCs — an important commitment to ensuring people experiencing a mental health crisis have somewhere appropriate to turn.

But that support can’t be temporary. These centers need sustainable, reliable funding so they can continue serving their communities and remain a dependable part of our crisis response system.

This ***dePreventionMonth, let’s keep building a system where no one experiencing a mental health emergency is left without support, care, or a safe place to turn. 💙

It’s , and we need to talk about what happens after someone reaches out for help. 💙

When someone experiences a mental health or su***de-related crisis, they need a system that is ready to respond — not just a number to call.

988 is a critical first step. But a complete crisis response system also includes mobile crisis teams and crisis receiving and stabilization centers (CRSCs), helping ensure people can receive the right care when and where they need it.

When a New Jerseyan is experiencing a mental health crisis, they deserve a mental health response: trained professionals, compassionate support, and a calm, recovery-focused environment — rather than relying on law enforcement or an overcrowded emergency room whenever possible.

This ***dePreventionMonth, we’re asking an important question: What happens after the first call?

988 works best when the entire crisis continuum of care works with it. 💙

Today is . 💙

When someone is experiencing a mental health or su***de-related crisis, 988 helps make sure they have someone to turn to.

And here in New Jersey, more people than ever are reaching out for support. In 2025, 988 received more than 104,000 calls across the state — an 18% increase from 2024.

That increase matters. Data shows that as 988 calls increase, projected su***des decrease.

This ***dePreventionMonth, we’re highlighting the importance of continuing to build a strong crisis response system in New Jersey — one that connects every person seeking help with the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
