Bishop Dan Schwerin invites us all to lift up prayer:

Beloveds,

Greetings in the hope that is ours in Christ. I write to lift the news that North Central College student Giana Dettloff died in a mass shooting in Bloomington, Illinois, early Sunday morning. Please hold her family, Rev. Max Blalock, the North Central College chaplain, and the North Central College leadership and community, the families, and ripples of impacted communities in prayer. May we also seek ways to lament and advance nonviolence in our common witness. May those who mourn indeed know comfort.

Thank you.

Peace,
Bishop Dan Schwerin, Bishop

With heavy hearts, we announce that our dear friend and church member, Mr. Charlie Wicker, passed away this week.

Charlie Wicker, age 88, lived in Antioch, IL, and previously in Glenview, IL. He was born July 25, 1938, and passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Charlie was a loving father of Linda (Dave) Kleckner, Cynthia (Nicholas) Batson, Chuck (Katherine) Wicker, Sandra Wicker, Patricia (Scott) Payne, and a loving stepfather of Karen Tobin; cherished grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 4.

Charlie was an active and dedicated member of our church, the Federated Church of Wauconda. We remember how involved he was, especially on the Board of Trustees, at church workdays, and whenever he could help. We will dearly miss him, his gentle kindness, and his smiles.

Please pray for his children and extended family during this time of sorrow. May God surround them with His love, peace, and comfort.

Here are the details for Charlie's Visitation and celebration service.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 1st, 1 pm to 3:30 pm
Celebration service will be at 3:30 pm at Kisselburg Funeral Home (235 N. Main Street, Wauconda, IL 60084)

Commitment Sunday. A day set aside for the members of the church to give of their time, talents and gifts to keep the church a friendly helping hand in the community. Commitment is a hard word to hear but that is what Jesus did. He committed His life to fulfilling His Father's work here on earth. That is our example to follow.

Join us for Commitment Sunday on October 25 as we celebrate 188 years of service and ministry in Wauconda!

For nearly two centuries, our church has been a beacon of God's light. We are deeply grateful to all our faithful members and friends who walk this journey of faith with us. Please join us in celebrating this incredible milestone:

9:30 AM: Worship service featuring music from our praise team and the presentation of our pledge forms.

10:45 AM: Annual Church Picture (everyone stays together in the Sanctuary).

11:00 AM – 12:30 PM: Celebration Potluck Lunch with cake, games, and fellowship as we discuss sharing our gifts and talents. (The finance committee will provide sandwiches and cake.)

During our worship service, we will celebrate what God is doing through our church family and reflect on who we are as the Federated Church of Wauconda.

As you prepare to come, please consider this Sunday a personal Commitment Sunday to faithfully support the Lord and His church for the year 2027. Following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, we invite you to joyfully bring your pledge card so we can continue spreading hope and love both within and beyond these walls.

We pray that you will come to worship our Generous God—the Giver of all—and celebrate His goodness through us!

Warmly,

Pastor Soon Sun & the Finance and Stewardship Committee
