Post 2486 had the honor and good fortune of being able to celebrate the nations 250th anniversary at Converse Park with local vets from Lovell Federal Healthcare Center. The veterans arrived on a school bus and were immediately greeted and welcomed upon exiting the bus. Food and drink was provided by the Mayor and township of Island Lake. Along with the township, the VFW, Semper Fi Chef, and Barrington Pizza were at the ready ensuring each of our guests were eating well and having a good time. Turned out to be a great day for all and was finished up well before the rain moved in.

Yesterday May 24th, Maj. Paul R. Syverson III Memorial VFWPost 2486 along with Scout troops 309 and 964, took a moment to honor and recognize many local heroes who had given their all in service to our nation. Together they placed flags at the many veteran gravesites in both Lake Zurich and Fairfield cemeteries. The day started with a prayer, a brief lesson on the history and importance of Memorial Day, and a lesson on how to properly place a flag at a veterans gravesite.
