Monthly meeting time! Yep, tonight was the night and what a great turnout as high temperatures didn't keep these dedicated ladies at home. What can I say other than we are a bunch of fun gals to hang with!

Fruity, Cool Whip chicken salad served with mini croissants (hey, this stuff is really good), and a side of Corn Frito Salad were the main course items followed by Sweet & Salty Puffcorn Snack Mix as dessert. Great food for a torching hot summer eve! Beth and Donna were the chefs tonight and attendees were throwing out compliments throughout the meal.

Our business meeting was short and then it was on to tips and door prizes. Bonnie was our leader tonight offering up some good tips, including a video she texted to everyone, and four great door prizes. Yes, the four winners were pretty happy! Bonnie and Angie were our birthday prize winners for this month--we had several happy women by the end of the meeting.

Wow! Very impressive and worthy of sharing.

Congratulations to Linda Dodson, 1st Place in the Specialty Technique for her paper-pieced "McCaw" quilt which also one Viewer's Choice. This quilt was a show stopper!

July's meeting was "popping" tonight (reference to fireworks month--lol)! We had a local arrive as the doors opened who brought in color coordinated sacks of fabric she wanted out of her house, so did we ever have a hay day! We are very thankful to her for thinking of our guild members and sharing her treasures.

Margaret, Velta, and Claudia provided the food tonight and it was fitting for a hot summer day. Meat tray, cheese tray, chips, crackers, nachos, olives, pickles and three kinds of desserts--super delish. Heck, I may have missed some of the foods since there was such a variety. Great job, ladies!

Donna was the leader for the evening. A short business meeting started us off followed by upcoming event notifications, funny quilting quotes, gadget of the month, tips, and door prize drawings for three lucky winners. Then we transitioned into "sew and tell" projects which, as usual, will be uploaded with captions a little after this post.

Margaret handed out the Courthouse Steps pattern and explained the process on its construction which is this month's block for the Burger King block of the month quilt. Next month on August 17th will be the last block instructions, and then at the September 21st meeting,, instructions on how to put it together will be explained.

Our meetings are always so much fun, informative and uplifting! Anyone close to Watonga is welcome to join us on the third Monday of each month at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center with food served beginning at 6:00 p.m., meeting starts around 6:30 p.m. or a little after. Y'all come on down, ya hear!

My apologies for the late posting of Monday night's meeting. There are several legit reasons, I promise!

We had a good turn out for such a hot Monday and were treated to sliders, chips, cookies and cake prior to starting the meeting. Sharon and Brenda did an awesome job of feeding us and many thanks to both of them.

Brenda was our leader for the meeting and she brought several cute pouches she had made using either a cut up metal tape measure or actual purchased slats for the openings. She also showed us a deck of cards in a quilt theme--great for quilters who also play cards.

A general business discussion was held and then it was on to see what projects attendees brought for us to admire. Pics will be captioned and uploaded after this post, so as usual, check back to see what was shared.

We got to learn from Margaret on how to make a faux fl**ge binding which can give a quilt an extra pop. I make these on almost all of my quilts.

Margaret also taught us on how to make the next block in the Burger King mystery quilt (I think that is what it is called), which is not only darling, but also very easy to make. The only seams you have to match will be the block seams as everything is stitched on top of the block--cute roses (or flowers).

Greetings, fellow quilt enthusiasts! Time for our monthly meeting report from tonight's gathering.

Maxine and Janice (mother and daughter) were our chefs providing soft tacos with all the condiments, chips, brownies and I am guessing glazed lemon cake (I had willpower and didn't try any). All the food was great and enjoyed by everyone.

Judy was our meeting leader which entailed a short business meeting, and also shared with us her favorite gadget, a few quotes, and prizes for drawings. Marsha received a birthday gift since she was born in May.

We are sad to see a couple of our guild members move to other places some time in the future, but we will enjoy them for as long as we can before they make that move.

We had some good sew and tell projects tonight as well as finished blocks from the current block of the month group project for this year. The last block pattern will be taught at our August meeting. Please be patient while I upload and caption all the pictures from tonight (my standard procedure--unfortunate for you all).

Below is a picture of a quilt with the quilt top being made by members of the guild Enterprise Club, which we think met northwest of Watonga, Oklahoma.

The top was made in the 1920s-30s according to the embroidered block near the center of the quilt, and the blocks contain embroidered names on each block by the woman who made the block.

Last year, this top was found in a former member's belongings and was donated to our guild. We sent the top off to be hand-quilted to keep it authentic to the era.

This quilt is for sale and the proceeds will be donated to the Watonga Senior Citizens Center. We would like to give heirs first option, and it is currently hanging in the Watonga Senior Citizens Center for viewing.

I'm back! Close to 50 photos from last night's meeting have been edited and are ready for the captions (which will take a bit of time to do), then they will be ready to be added to this post, so grab some popcorn and a drink! First though, a summary of our April meeting:

Eldora was our snack master providing a sandwich, salad, chip bags, cookie, and cupcake buffet. Spring is the start of sandwich season, so it was fitting for the evening! YUM!

Janice was our leader with business topics being discussed, prizes awarded, and a funny quilting quote was shared. Then we had a discussion on the 1920s-30s quilt top that was donated to our guild that had belonged to former member, Jeannie Castleberry. Our guild paid to have it hand-quilted and it will be used as a fundraiser for the Watonga Senior Citizens Center. I will upload a separate picture with more details in a post following this one.

Two members have April birthdays (Velta and Daleene), so they received gifts. 🎉

At our March meeting, Margaret asked all of us to bring our favorite quilt to the April meeting, whether it was a family heirloom, one we purchased or one we made. You will see lots of pictures of these once they are uploaded. Also, we had our monthly block of the month and sew-n-tell projects made by members with pictures of those below as well.

Margaret's program was on April's block of the month, the Sunburst Block. She always does an excellent job on detailed handouts and visual explaining. Pictures of the construction and her finished blocks are also included below.

It was so good to see Pansy Hollis and her daughter, Nancy, today when I was out and about. Pansy is one of the ladies that made our quilt guild a success and is an excellent quilt maker and instructor. We miss seeing her at all of our meetings, but we are always excited to see her when she is able to attend.
