Yesterday I got to attend the Yukon High School art department's annual Art Show. I am always overwhelmed by the effort and talent that was exhibited by art students. It was also national Teacher Appreciation Day. It takes very special people to take on the task of teaching young people at every level. Last night I was especially proud to learn that two graduates of the Yukon high school art department have gone on to pursue careers in Art and one as an art teacher. As founder of the Phoenix Circle Foundation and a longtime supporter of the arts, I am happy to see school districts support arts education programs.

SOME GOOD NEWS for those who donate to charitable organizations! For 2025, taxpayers who do not itemize can claim a charitable deduction of up to $1,000 for single filers and $2,000 for married couples filing jointly. This deduction allows non-itemizers to deduct cash contributions to qualified charities, marking the first time since 2021 that this benefit is available to standard deduction filers. This increase in the charitable deduction allows any taxpayer to donate to more worthy causes!
The Phoenix Circle Foundation is another local 501(c)(3) organization that serves Watonga youth by providing free art activities. We operate out of the building at 111 E. Main St., next to the theater. For many years we have provided art activities as a part of the Kiwanis Summer Youth program and led painting workshops for 4H students who then show their work at the Blaine County Fair; we've given scholarships to high school seniors in Blaine County, held holiday card-making activities, and sponsored trips to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. You can help us buy necessary art supplies to continue to provide free art opportunities for our youth with a tax-deductible donation, by check or our secure Paypal account at https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/ST8DAPF92RJ
Our mailing address is 4978 S. Hwy 8A, Watonga 73772. A receipt can be sent to you.

Thank you to all who supported our fundraiser by getting pecans from us, and for all of the kids who stopped by our table at the Blaine County Holiday Bazaar to make Christmas cards, from snowmen to the wise men. We had 38 kids make cards, and a few who came back to make a second card. It was a fun day!
