All-

We are gathering personal reflections from those who attended the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall dedication at Aero Park on Memorial Day, May 25th, 2026, as well as from community members who have visited the Wall since its installation.

If you’re willing, please share a short quote or a few sentences about any of the following:

What the dedication ceremony felt like to you — emotions, atmosphere, or moments that stood out.

What having a permanent replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Watertown means to you personally.

How the Wall impacts you as a veteran, family member, friend, or community member.

Why this memorial matters to our community.

Any thoughts on remembrance, healing, or honoring those who served.

By sending a quote or reflection, you acknowledge that it may be used on the American Legion Post 189 website, in Legion communications, and potentially in professional or community publications related to the memorial.

Please note:

Submission does not guarantee your quote will be used.

Quotes may be lightly edited for clarity, length, or formatting while preserving your meaning.

If you prefer your name to be withheld or listed in a specific way, please indicate that in your message.

Thank you for helping preserve the meaning and impact of this historic moment for our community! Responses should be submitted through the contact form on our website linked below.

THANK YOU!

Did you know that Post 189 sponsors youth baseball teams!?

American Legion Baseball is one of the nation’s most respected youth athletic programs, with an alumni base that includes over half of today’s Major League Baseball players. Each year, about 3,500 teams compete, creating opportunities for players, coaches, umpires, and volunteers to get involved.

Players can join by contacting their local Legion post and trying out for the nearest team. If they don’t make one roster, they can continue trying out with the next‑closest post until they find a fit.

Coaches who want to start a team can reach out to their state’s department baseball chairman to receive rules, insurance details, and registration materials.

Umpires are typically assigned through local associations, and departments may nominate officials for national tournaments.

Volunteers are always needed — from keeping stats to helping on game day — and can connect through their local post.

American Legion Baseball remains a welcoming, growing program with a role for anyone who wants to support youth, teamwork, and community.

What a fantastic membership meeting last night!
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success.

We kicked things off with our officer installation, conducted by Steve Kohnke, Wisconsin Department Vice Commander (Post 434). We were also honored to have District Commander Joe Leone (Post 457) in attendance. We’re grateful for their support and leadership.

A huge congratulations to Riley Weakley, recent Maranatha Baptist University graduate, who was awarded a 1st place $5,000 scholarship. Outstanding achievement, Riley — well deserved!

Thank you as well to everyone who came out to support our annual brat fry, including Watertown’s own Mayor Robert Stocks. Your support keeps our mission strong.

Our Honor Guard is actively recruiting new members who are able to march in the 4th of July parade and participate in other ceremonies throughout the year. If you’ve ever considered joining, now is the time. More information is available on our website: Post 189 Honor Guard | AM Legion Post 189.

And remember — Post 189 is ALWAYS recruiting new members! We’d love to have you join us in serving our veterans, strengthening our community, and keeping our traditions alive. Reach out if you’re interested.

We have many more events planned for 2026, and we’ll keep you updated on opportunities to come out, build community, share some laughs, and support our fundraising efforts.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook and share our posts to help spread the word.
