What we mean when WE say 'Black Lives Matter'

After our protest yesterday on Main, we felt it important to express our intent with The Unity Project - Watertown.

We are not here to promote hate, anger, or more divide. Our goal is to partner with ALL aspects & members of our community to bring true and lasting change.

Yesterday we stood for & against the continued excessive force by police that we all witnessed again, so close to home just a week earlier. We strongly believe that every human in our community matters, but right now we're focusing on the crisis of continued injustice to our BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color) because it's gone on far too long and must stop!

Our goal is not to diminish any other humam or group of people, but to bring awareness to where it's needed most in this moment.

We had a great turn out & pretty positive reaponse overall!

Thank you to all who helped organize, meet & stand up for those who can't.

We hope to continue to support all members of our community in various ways and let Watertown know we're here to be a positive force in our town.

Join us this Saturday at noon to peacefully protest the continued concern of police brutality and unjust force.

We stand with our law enforcement and their actions to protect our communities. We want to partner with them to bring a sense of safety and belonging to us ALL. BUT, we demand it be done in an ethical and law abiding way. When these terms are broken, we stand and demand justice & accountability.

Bring your signs and power to promote change! **Please remember this is a peaceful ✌ protest**

We will be gathering at The River Walk Plaza near the Main St bridge, between S. First St & S. Water St.

The Unity Project was founded in nearby town, Fort Atkinson, a few years ago and has made great strides in their community to bring unity & acceptance, especially to minority populations. We were inspired and decided to branch off from them and begin this work in Watertown as well.
