Welcome to the eighth quarterly newsletter of Monroe County, IL MRC Unit #2781!!!
Below are some of our accomplishments and continuing activities/plans for 2025:
• Our Emergency Response Coordinator attended a Public Health Emergency Preparedness Summitt in Normal, IL on May 6-8, 2025. Various health departments and MRC units were represented from across the state of Illinois.
• Our Emergency Response Coordinator also attended a Metro-East Region MRC Meeting at Madison County Health Department, Wood River, IL on June 21, 2025. During these meetings, MRC Unit Leaders and their associates work together regionally and share ideas from their specific units.
• Madison County MRC offered 2 virtual Active Intruder/Active Shooter trainings on Saturday, June 7th and Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 10-11:30 a.m. Four members of our MRC Unit attended, including our Unit Leader.
• Our MRC Unit provided MRC information & promoted our Unit at:
Columbia EMS Open House on Thursday, May 15, 2025, 4:30p.m.-7 p.m.
Monroe County EMS Open House on Thursday, May 22, 2025, 5-8 p.m.
Monroe County Fair, July 20-24, 2025, 5-8 p.m.
• An all-day Mental Health First Aid Training was provided by Stacey Macchi, Associate Professor from Western Illinois University, to MRC volunteers and Monroe County Health Department staff on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Monroe County Health Department. This training was provided by MRC of Illinois.
• The Monroe County Disaster Mental Health Team, which is part of the Monroe County Emergency Operations Plan, met on June 11th and August 6th, 2025. Discussions included reviewing the disaster mental health plan, after-disaster referrals, recruiting additional members, updating a phone tree for use during disasters and various training opportunities.
• We are preparing for “National Preparedness Month” in September. Please stay tuned!!!

My name is Stacey Macchi and I am a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and am so pleased to be able to work with Monroe County MRC to offer you this training on two separate dates! Not to worry though, you will only need to sign up for one!

The training is going to be offered on Saturday, July 19th from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

During this training we will learn what mental health first aid is, your role as a mental health first aider, the various types of mental health challenges people face in the United States and how you can take action by learning the ALGEE Mental Health Action Plan.

To sign up, please do the following:
Click on the Google Form directly below the date that you plan to attend. Just click and enter your name and email. I will need this to register you in the Mental Health First Aid Connect System.
