Good morning, everyone! We've had a change in the location of the 2026 Veterans Day Parade, from St. Albans to Georgia. This change has been reflected on our official calendar as well as in Black Pug, and I will include the information below.
Please join us in honoring our Veterans this November!
In honor of the brave men and women who continue to preserve freedom enjoyed by Americans, Scouting America, Green Mountain Council is proud to present the annual Scouting Salute to Veterans parade, Saturday, November 7th, 2026, rain or shine. This year’s parade will be hosted by Georgia.
All Scouting America and Girl Scouts of the USA units are invited to march in uniform as we honor our Veterans!
2026 Scouting’s Salute to Veterans Parade Overview
Location: Georgia
Host Committee: Pack 842 & Troop 42
Date/Time: Saturday, November 7, 2026
Arrival and Lineup: 9:00-10:00 A.M.
Muster Location/Parking: Georgia Elementary School RT 7
Step Off: 10:30 A.M.
Parade Route: The parade will leave the school for Town Park
Ceremony Location: Park
Lunch Location: Park (Subject to Change) (Lunch included for all marchers)

After six years leading Green Mountain Council, today was Scout Executive Mark Saxon's last day before he heads south to the Atlanta Area Council.

He wrote one last letter to the Vermont Scouting family. It's about floods and pies, maple sap and creemee stands, an eclipse, a campfire dance, 320 Eagle Scouts, and what it means to matter to each other. It's worth your time.

We're excited to share some wonderful news — Anthony "Tony" Vogl has been named the next Scout Executive of the Green Mountain Council!
Tony is coming home. A Colchester native, Eagle Scout from Burlington Troop 650, and former Mount Norris staff member, Tony began his professional Scouting career right here with GMC in 2000. He's spent the years since building deep experience in council leadership, fundraising, membership growth, and development — most recently with Scouting America's National Office of Development.
Tony, his wife Nicole, and their three children (including an Eagle Scout, a Star Scout, and a Tenderfoot) will join us on October 16.
During his first 90 days, Tony plans to get out across the state — visiting units, meeting volunteers, and listening. If you have thoughts on how we can better support Scouts and families in your community, he wants to hear from you.

Welcome to the team, Noel! 🎉

We're excited to announce that Noel Sylvester-Noyes has joined the Green Mountain Council as our new Coordinator of Volunteer Support. Noel brings 30 years of retail and operations experience, a Master's degree in Conflict Resolution, and — as a former Girl Scout leader — a genuine connection to the world of youth development.

Originally from Virginia, Noel has made her home in the Green Mountains. When she's not helping our volunteers, you might find her gardening, hiking, kayaking, birding, or catching a Broadway show.
