🎢 Six flags is open!! Have so much fun! 🎢
This project was such a fun community led project and one we saw a ton of local students support. If we want the trails to be here in 20 years and beyond, that starts today by inspiring future generations of trail stewards. Throughout this project, We hosted a group of 10 seniors for their community day of service. A weekly group from the .brook.middle.school sustainability program joined us and learned about how we can build both fun and sustainable trails. Also, a shout out to Harwood Students and local rippers and Thomas Wulff, who put some time in on the tools, and tested some of the fresh work. Their input was so helpful in shaping the final outcomes.
We also hosted the trail clinic with representatives from chapters across the state where we learned about water management, rock armoring and how to properly slap a berm, fixing a bath tub turn that would fill up with water during rain storms.
This project was also directly guided by your feedback. We heard from people that they had stopped riding the dragons back roller due to the blown out exit and catch berm, so we fixed that, including a ton of water management and armoring ensuring a long term resilient solution. Consistent user feedback has said six flags is great but the middle section is a little boring, often citing the series of jumps that didn’t work, so we fixed those. The drop in the middle? Y’all said it was a huck to flat and the entrance was weird, So we fixed the landing and the cleaned up entrance. To be thoughtful stewards of the forest we closed out and rehabilitated old borrow pits left over from volunteer efforts of year pasts. The result? Some of Perry Hill hill’s gnarliest tech you know and love, linked together with some playful options and a far more climate resilient trail that will remain rideable more often.
Please give it a pre-ride and then re-ride. Just as in the past the full trail has b-lines and rollable options.
