Thank you for a successful last minute holiday outreach craziness. We can't wait to be back next year with a bigger and better Adopt-a-Family holiday drive.

I went thrifting for last minute Christmas gifts.
And before anyone asks, no, it’s not gross.
And no, I don’t feel guilty.

My kids won’t be disappointed… because I didn’t raise them to think love comes with a price tag or a “brand new” sticker.

They care that someone thought of them.
That it’s fun.
That it’s theirs.

We clean things. We take care of things. We reuse things.
And somehow… they’re still happy. Still excited. Still grateful.

Christmas in our house isn’t about excess.
It’s about intention.
It’s about teaching gratitude instead of entitlement.

If thrifted gifts make you uncomfortable, that’s okay, but it works really well for our family. 🥰

Toy availability update for 12/24:
Toy availability update:
Pick up times for 12/24 are 10am-2pm

We do not have items for infants under 1 year old.
We have a few items for ages 1-2 years.
We have plenty of items for ages 3-7 years.
We are almost out of items for ages 8 years.
We have very few items for ages 9-13 years.
We have only a couple of items for ages 14-17.

We do have some items that were donated that are used that you are welcome to take as many as you want. They are mostly toys and a few kitchen items.
We have 1 very comfortable upholstered swivel rocking chair that we would love someone to take home. If these donations are not gone by 2pm on Wednesday, we will be putting them in the dumpster because we don't have a place to store them.
There is also a baby sun shade for the yard, park, or beach as well as a bath seat with suction cups for a toddler or baby who can sit on their own.

A word of CAUTION to our well-meaning community members. Just because people are posting to our page, that does not mean that they are being truthful. We are aware of people who are being dishonest and deceitful, and we will not call them out publicly, but we know. Please, please be careful when reaching out to strangers! Things and people are not always what they seem to be.

For everyone sending messages tonight-
We know this has been a tough year for everyone.
If you have already received help from other toy programs, please let others take a turn. This isn't about getting "more". Our donations are very limited this year and we are doing our best to help those who did not receive anything.

Pick up times will be Tuesday from 2pm-8pm and Wednesday from 10am-2pm.

Our program is open for ages infant through 17. Pickup will be at the Wassaic DDSO by the Ten Mile River Metro North station where we have been distributing holiday toys for the last 5 years.

We have toys for ages 3-9, and limited items for infant-2, and 10-17.
In previous years, we have dealt with defecits by using cash donations to shop for those age groups ourselves (teen and tween boys have always been challenging to provide items for). We were not able to do that this year.

Residents of Dover and Webutuck schools only (Amenia, Wassaic, Millerton, Dover Plains, & Wingdale). Younger than school age ok, but you must reside within those 2 districts.

Custodial Parents and legal guardians only, please.
We are asking everyone to please message us to register so we know that we have enough.

This is a "First-come, first-served", "shopping style" event. Selection is based on the generous donations of our kind community members. Participants will be limited to the quantity of gifts they can choose so that all have a chance to receive something. This isn't about getting "more", it is about providing enough for members of our community, especially in challenging times.

Please bear with us. We are all having a hard year and we appreciate your patience and support.

If you would like to make a donation, please consider sending a venmo or dropping off a check to us in Wassaic. We can turn donations into gift cards pretty quickly. Just sayin'.

We are having a very last minute toy distribution day this week due to a few donations that just came in. If your children are in the Dover or Webutuck school districts and you still need help, please message us here and we will confirm the pickup information. We will be distributing from Wassaic.

Hours will be Tuesday from 2pm-8pm and Wednesday morning from 10am-2pm. Location is the Taconic DDSO in Wassaic next to the Ten Mile River Metro North Station where we've been distributing holiday toys for the last 5 years.

We also know of more families in need if you can donate. Gift cards work well!
Is 2025 over yet? 🙃

We are starting to scope out new places that we can use as a home base for our school supply drive. Maplebrook School has been amazing, but we think it is time for us to move on if we can find the right space with year-round access. If you have a space or know of a space where we can store our school supplies and maybe our holiday gifts, that we operate our drives from, please reach out. Thanks.
