Warren C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team)

Warren C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) Through proper training and preparedness, CERT will be instrumental in assisting our professional emergency personnel in the event of an emergency situation.

The Warren Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT

members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that

help improve the safety of the community. The Warren (CERT) program trains volunteer's to:

* Respond to local disasters in accordance with CERT protocols and support emergency personnel upon their arrival and request,

* Inform, educate, and train their neighbors about disaster preparedness,

* Assist agencies in managing spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site,

* Assist public safety agencies and local community interests with public events. The CERT concept includes all the likely actions a team or an individual may utilize in the aftermath of a disaster such as, search and rescue techniques, debris removal, first aid, small fire containment, etc. To educate citizens to be better prepared to take care of themselves, family, friends, and neighbors in the event of a disaster of any type until trained emergency responders can arrive. To establish

Community Emergency Response Teams, emergency management resources, volunteer pools to help during an emergency, and to perform projects that improve a community’s preparedness

Our Mission is to do the most good for the greatest number of people by extending the capabilities of response organizations to minimize loss of life and damage to property. Our Goal is to prepare ourselves, our families, our neighbors, workplaces and our communities-at-large because disasters may overwhelm emergency response resources. Before a disaster, Warren CERT will focus on emergency preparedness and hazard mitigation. In response to a disaster, Warren CERT may operate directly, or assist responders, in activities to save or sustain lives and protect property. Warren CERT will also strive to become known as a trusted volunteer resource that can actively support the response community in many ways, such as helping with community Safety Projects and preparing our neighborhoods and workplaces. Warren CERT will be a well-organized, well trained and well managed volunteer group providing highly affective critical support activities. The safety of everyone is our number one priority.

When CERT teams search a structure, communication is critical. The “X” marking system allows responders to quickly understand:

✔️ Who searched
✔️ When it was searched
✔️ What areas were covered
✔️ How many victims were found

A single slash ( / ) means search has started.
A completed “X” means search is complete and information has been documented.

Clear markings prevent duplicate searches, reduce risk, and help Incident Command track progress.

Prepared volunteers. Organized response. Safer communities.
