Waves Academy of the Creative Arts and Career Center is now officially a 501(c)3! I am so grateful! Our official website will be up soon! We have some really great board members, consultants, educational specialists, along with our amazing intake and admin team that are ready to get things started!

For those that have asked this is not a Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation (GVRA) program. This is our own Waves' transition program where we can create custom pathways for our homeschool, private, and public-school students while supporting families, schools, teachers, and our community!

Waves Autism Center, LLC will be for our students ages 5 to 13 for social, life, and many different weekly and summer workshops we will be offering. Once a student turns 14 to adult, they will be eligible to attend our very own transition program, Waves Academy of the Creative Arts and Career Center!

We will soon have our website up and running to offer more information! Send us an email with your contact number and best day for us to reach out, if you'd like to schedule a call with one of our intake specialists to set up a tour and receive a registration form.

If we met you at a transition fair this school year, we will be reaching out and will also be returning messages received. Thank you for your interest and your patience as we create this new pathway, leading to hope and a future for our students and families! We are so grateful for everyone that prayed for us and encouraged us to not give up on the more challenging days! We have much to celebrate! 💗🌴

In 2018 I started Waves, offering after school social groups for elementary, middle, and high school students. It did not take long to learn that more needed to be done. By 2019 I had a dream to create a space to offer support and resources for students to prepare them for the most precious time, transitioning from secondary school.

I am happy to share that I found the courage to take a leap of faith back in September 2025. Waves Academy of the Creative Arts and Career Center has received approval from the state of Georgia as a 501(3)C non-profit.

We are now in the final phase awaiting the approval from the IRS to let us know that we are officially a 501(3) C non-profit to offer groups, workshops, and classes for students to learn different areas of study in an avocational way until we earn full accreditation.

We will also be able to offer in house assessments only to be used at Waves to support those that do not have an official diagnosis in certain areas such as autism and a developmental disability as well as for the areas of diagnosis that traditionally are not eligible for services or funding such as adhd, sensory processing disorder, and learning challenges such as dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and those that are dyslexic.

This is a grassroots effort that I feel very passionate about. Everyone that enters through our doors or meet us virtually will be greeted with compassion and respect. My hope is that those that need support will find a space to feel heard and validated. If you would like to partner with us, please reach out.

If you would like to follow along on our progress, please visit our new page. You can find us at Waves Academy of the Creative Arts and Career Center. If you would like to learn more please send us an email to [email protected]. We are working on our website to be fully online once we have the official approval as a 501(3)C so we can be prepared to share the next steps on how to register and support our students that are ages 14 to adult.

Waves Autism Center, LLC will continue to operate, serving our students that are ages 5 to 13 at this time, offering social groups and summer workshops!

Thank you to everyone that has encouraged me to take this leap of faith. My family and I are so grateful! In due time I will introduce the wonderful people that have been the wind beneath my wings. They are truly amazing rock stars that have compassion and a true servant's heart for the community we seek to support!

In Kindness and Gratitude,
Shelley Spivey
