www.PictureLab.org Carnegie Picture Lab's goal is to bring art to every child and every classroom in the Walla Walla Valley.

Carnegie Picture Lab reaches over 3,800 children three times every year with art history lessons and art-creation projects, led by volunteer teachers. Formerly funded by the Carnegie Art Center in Walla Walla, Washington it has brought art to the community's children for more than 30 years!

🎨We’re so grateful to Walla Walla Public Schools for the recognition of Picture Lab as one of the 2026 Partners of the year! 🎨
Our partnership with Walla Walla Public Schools started back in 1971 when Picture Lab volunteers taught Art History to second graders.
Our current Creativity Curated Program serves all 5 elementary schools students, who receive one lesson per month. In this post, you can see some of this year’s wonderful artistic creations!
We appreciate the opportunity provided by Walla Walla Public Schools and are excited to continue creating art in the classrooms next year!

Nuestra colaboración con las Escuelas Públicas de Walla Walla comenzó en 1971, cuando los voluntarios de Picture Lab impartieron clases de historia del arte a alumnos de segundo grado.
Nuestro actual programa Curado por la Creatividad está dirigido a los alumnos de las cinco escuelas primarias, quienes reciben una clase al mes. ¡En esta publicación, puedes ver algunas de las maravillosas creaciones artísticas de este año!

🎨 Artist Spotlight: Teens Open Art Studio! 🎨
Oliver began participating in the Teens Open Art Studio in January 2025. The project shown in the photo is the result of his creativity and several months of hard work.
🫶 This program is made possible thanks to the Art Walla ABC-Grant.
✨ Picture Lab invites teens ages 13–19 to join our Thursday sessions for process-centered art, material experimentation, and creative exploration in a supportive environment designed for personal expression.

Oliver comenzó a participar en el Estudio abierto para adolescentes en enero de 2025. El proyecto que se muestra en la foto es el resultado de su creatividad y varios meses de arduo trabajo.

🎨 Spring Break Ceramics Workshop for Kids! 🎨
Does your child love working with clay? Join us at Picture Lab Studio for a fun, hands-on two-day ceramics workshop designed for elementary kids ages 8–11!
🫶 Day 1 – Monday, April 6 (10:00am–12:00pm):
Kids will learn clay-building techniques like rolling and attaching coils, creating slabs, and shaping pinch pots.
🎨 Day 2 – Thursday, April 9 (10:00am–12:00pm):
Once their creations are fired in the kiln, students will glaze their pottery with beautiful colors and designs!
After a final firing, finished pieces will be ready for pickup about one week after class.
✨ Space is limited—sign up soon to give your young artist a creative Spring Break to remember!

🎨 ¡Taller de Cerámica para Niños en Vacaciones de Primavera! 🎨
¿A tu hijo le encanta trabajar con arcilla? ¡Únete a nosotros en Picture Lab Studio para un divertido taller de cerámica de dos días, diseñado para niños de 8 a 11 años!
🫶 Día 1 – Lunes 6 de abril (10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.):
Los niños aprenderán diferentes técnicas para trabajar con arcilla, como enrollar y unir tiras, construir con placas y modelar pequeñas macetas con los dedos.
🎨 Día 2 – Jueves 9 de abril (10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.):
Después de cocer sus creaciones en el horno, ¡los estudiantes podrán esmaltar sus piezas con hermosos colores y diseños!
Tras una cocción final, las obras terminadas estarán listas para recogerse aproximadamente una semana después de que finalice el taller.

🎨 A huge thank-you to Dayton Elementary School for welcoming us once again to their Art Family Night last Friday! We had such a wonderful time watching 5th graders bring historical figures, leaders, scientists, and changemakers to life through their living portraits.
Our Picture Lab team loved creating art alongside students and families — from making artist trading cards to designing unique architectural projects, like miniature buildings, houses, rooms, and outdoor spaces.
Events like this remind us how powerful creativity can be when shared with the community. 💛

🎨 ¡Un enorme agradecimiento a la Escuela Primaria de Dayton por recibirnos una vez más en su Noche Familiar de Arte el pasado viernes! Fue maravilloso ver a los estudiantes de quinto grado dar vida a figuras históricas, líderes, científicos y agentes de cambio a través de sus retratos vivientes.
Nuestro equipo de Picture Lab disfrutó mucho creando arte junto a los estudiantes y sus familias — desde la elaboración de tarjetas de intercambio de artistas hasta el diseño de proyectos arquitectónicos únicos, como pequeños edificios, casas, habitaciones y espacios al aire libre.
Eventos como este nos recuerdan lo poderosa que puede ser la creatividad cuando se comparte con la comunidad. 💛
