Sherwood Trust

Sherwood Trust Sherwood Trust is a private, nonprofit foundation serving the Walla Walla Valley. Except during the war years, Walla Walla was his home.

Our vision is that everyone has a sense of belonging and contributes to a thriving region. Donald and Virginia Sherwood left an indelible mark on Walla Walla, Washington. Virginia, born in 1909, dedicated her entire life to Walla Walla, except for her college days at the University of Washington. Donald, born in 1901 in Colville, Washington, arrived in Walla Walla upon entering Whitman College in

1918. Married in 1929, Donald and Virginia were a deeply and jointly committed team of one, working together to share their gifts of time, talent, and resources to improve the quality of life in the Walla Walla Valley. The contributions of the Sherwoods are many. Among the most enduring is the Sherwood Trust, a legacy that they founded as a private foundation in 1991. Today, the singular focus of the Sherwood Trust is for the Walla Walla Valley to reflect the highest, sustainable quality of life for everyone. As the Sherwood Trust looks to the future, it is guided by a distinct concept of philanthropy that mirrors core principles that were important to Donald and Virginia Sherwood throughout their lives.
