COMING JULY 9 (Thursday) at 7 PM: RED BADGE PROJECT AT Gesa Power House Theatre! All are invited!

The veterans who have served our nation bear the daily burden of their untold stories. The Red Badge Project was established by former Army Captain Evan Bailey and actor and Air Force Veteran Tom Skerritt to lift that weight. The Red Badge Project is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans by sharing storytelling skills to help them manage the challenges of PTS, TBIs, moral injury, and more. Bi-monthly classes for veterans are offered in conjunction with the Vet Centers in Walla Walla, Seattle, Federal Way, Everett, and Spokane. At this event, we are honored to be some of the first people outside of the Red Badge Project classroom to hear these stories.

This program is sponsored by Gesa Credit Union, and supported in part, by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission.

Today, on Women Veterans Day, we recognize and celebrate the generations of women who have answered the call to serve our nation.

Women Veterans have strengthened our armed forces through their courage, leadership, and dedication—often overcoming barriers while paving the way for those who follow. Their service extends far beyond their time in uniform, continuing through their contributions to families, communities, and the workforce.

To all women Veterans: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your enduring impact. Today and every day, we honor you.

We welcome our newest District 17 officers! State Surgeon Doug White (photo, far L) installed (from L to R) Commander Robert Clark (Post 5785), Jr. Vice Commander Zachary (Zac) Schrader (Post 5785), Quartermaster Bill Ingram (Post 3482), Surgeon Wayne White (Post 379), 3y Trustee Charles “Chuck” Forrester (Post 5785), and Judge Advocate Lloyd Becker (Post 7952). Comrade Schrader will also serve as the next D17 Adjutant.

Also elected, but not available for installation today, were Sr. Vice Commander Kyle Saltz (Post 7952) and Chaplain John Wilson (Post 3207). Continuing to serve will be 2y Trustee Pete Steinbock (Post 3207) and 1y Trustee Todd Smith (Post 992).

Additionally the D17 members approved the newest version of their Bylaws, which will go forward to National for final approval.

On this anniversary of his death, we pause to remember and honor the sacrifice of 1LT Mathew Fazzari, for whom our Post is named. We reflect on his courage, service, and devotion to our nation. May we continue to uphold the values he embodied and ensure that his sacrifice is never forgotten.

Today we honor and remember the life of Army First Lieutenant Mathew Fazzari. Gone but not forgotten (06/06/12). 1LT Fazzari was from Walla Walla, Washington.
