What is the First Quarter Debrief? The first quarter of the school year just ended, so this is a relaxed, parent-led check-in on how things are going so far. Come with your wins, your challenges, and your questions!

Your child does not have to be transition age to join us. It is never too early to start transition planning for our children!

Thriving Through Transition is a program of Together We Thrive Disabilities Foundation, Inc. (TWTDF), just like the Charles County Autism & Developmental Disabilities Parent Support Group.

🎃 What a day at our Fall-O-Ween Event at Idlewild Farm! 🍂

Thank you to every family who came out and spent the day with us. Our kids rode the coaster, raced to the fire truck, painted pumpkins, splashed in the sensory bins, played in the sand, and visited with goats, sheep, donkeys, bunnies, a llama and made new friends with one another! Most of all, they got to be exactly who they are in a space made for them. 🥰

We could not have done it without our amazing volunteers, who gave their time, their supplies, and their whole hearts. A big thank you to Idlewilde Farm for welcoming us, to the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. for letting our kids climb aboard Engine 11 🚒, and to Biz Ice Cream Truck for the sweet treats! 🍦

More family events are on the way, including our Karaoke and Game Night for ages 14 and up at Elite Gym on November 20th, so stay connected!

Today (Thursday, October 8) is the final day to register and submit your questions for the Board of Education Candidate Forum: Focus on Students with Disabilities, hosted by Charles County SECAC.

This nonpartisan forum is your chance to hear directly from Board of Education candidates about their vision and priorities for supporting students with disabilities in Charles County Public Schools. All candidates have been invited to participate.

You asked, and we listened!

For years, our Charles County Autism & Developmental Disabilities Parent Support Group has walked alongside families of children ages 2 to 21. But so many of you told us the same thing: "Are there support group meetings and hangouts just for teen and young adult years?"

We heard you. So we built something just for that.

Introducing... ✨ Thriving Through Transition (Ages 14 to 21) ✨
A brand new support group made specifically for parents and caregivers navigating the transition years, IEPs, guardianship, post-secondary paths, independent living, and everything in between.

We'll also be hosting social and connection events throughout the year, because this community is about more than just meetings.

📚 September Parent Support Group Meeting: Back To School Edition 📚

Starting a new school year can bring a mix of excitement, anxiety, and a whole new set of logistics for families raising children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Join us TONIGHT as we come together to talk through it all!

Whether you're navigating a new IEP, adjusting to a new teacher or classroom, managing transportation and schedule changes, or just need to connect with other parents who get it, this is your space.
