Our latest Sparks gathering gave members a chance to browse the bookstore, reconnect with one another, and keep the energy of the Waco Indie Film Festival going.

This Summer, Creative Waco CEO, Fiona Bond, will be taking a well-earned six-week sabbatical from June 27 through August 9.

Fiona and her husband Bruce will be exploring in Europe together before she returns in August with fresh inspiration (and probably a few stories to tell).

While she’s away, we’re excited that our Director of Events & Creative Placemaking, Eric Linares, will serve as Acting Director.

Eric has been a driving force behind so many of Creative Waco’s signature projects, from Levitt AMP Waco and Día de los Mu***os to creative placemaking, and community events. He knows our organization, mission, and community inside and out.

Perhaps the greatest sign of a healthy organization is that it continues to thrive while its leader takes time to rest and recharge. We have complete confidence in Eric, our incredible staff and board, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going this summer.

Please join us in wishing Fiona and Bruce safe travels, and in cheering Eric on as he steps into this leadership role for the next several weeks.

We’ll see Fiona back in August!
