💙 Making a difference together.

This week, Sentara employees partnered with Feeding Southwest Virginia to support local children and families facing food insecurity. Together, our volunteers packed 1,094 bags of food that will be distributed to eight schools across Tazewell, Russell and Washington counties.

These meals will help provide 183 children with weekend food support for six weeks, ensuring they continue to have access to nutritious meals when school is not in session.

We are grateful to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to make this event a success. Through partnerships like these, we continue to strengthen the communities we serve and bring our mission to life by improving health every day. 💙

After nine years together, Deja and Anthony were counting down to two life-changing moments: their wedding day and the arrival of their baby.

Their plan was to say "I do" first, but when a medical development meant their baby needed to be delivered sooner than expected, they were admitted to Sentara Leigh Hospital's Family Maternity Center before they could walk down the aisle.

Determined to help the couple celebrate this milestone, Deja's care team came together to create a wedding day they wouldn't miss. Before welcoming their little one, Deja and Anthony were able to exchange vows and share a special moment together.

It's the kind of thing our Family Maternity Center team does every day: getting to know the families they serve and finding ways to make their experience even more meaningful. Congratulations to the new family! 💜

At Sentara, we're building a whole-person care model that integrates mental health screening into every department, from orthopedics to cardiology to the emergency department. We're embedding behavioral health clinicians alongside medical teams, addressing co-occurring needs, and treating patients as complete people, not isolated symptoms.

That's how we improve outcomes, reduce avoidable readmissions and keep people healthy in their communities.

He's the first patient at Sentara to receive Papzimeos — a groundbreaking immunotherapy that treats the underlying cause of recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP), a condition affecting only about 20,000 people worldwide.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital's infusion center is now one of fewer than 10 sites in the country offering this life-changing treatment. 💉

Your greatest quest? Prioritizing your health 🌟

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men, but early detection can make all the difference. A prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test is a simple blood test that can screen for prostate cancer and give you peace of mind — and takes less time than watching The Odyssey.

For men age 50 or older (40+ for those with a higher risk), talk to your provider about getting a PSA test during your annual wellness exam or receive a screening at one of our community events. Learn more below ⬇️
