It’s been a minute since we’ve had any ministry discussion, because we’ve been in an extended holding pattern due to financial constraints. Pretty much our least favorite pattern in general. While it hasn’t been 40 years, it has certainly felt like a wilderness experience with all of the COVID, injury, and employment trials we’ve experienced in the last six years.
Good news! We have had a development arise in the form of an interim ministry opportunity that looks to be the provision we’ve been praying for to significantly advance the remodel of the BHOK side of the house.
For the last several months, I’ve been serving as the program director for New Creation House, a women’s recovery program home. It is a ministry branch of harvestinghoperecovery.org here in Vinita. The home has not proven to be financially feasible with the lease of the home, and it was going to have to close its doors. We were approached by the head of the ministry as a possible alternative, with a commitment of some labor and materials to bring us to occupancy-ready condition. We are excited about the prospect of that completion and interim ministry as a God-given step forward for Barnabas House. This will be a fast turnaround, as the ladies will need to move in by July 1st.
We want to ask for your support both in prayer and in sweat equity. All our furniture needs will be provided, but there’s a lot of spit-and-polish to be done. If you would like to donate: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=ECKZBW7FL484W
Resounding in our hearts are the words of the Israel Houghton song, “I am not forgotten; God knows my name!” Will you join us in prayer?
We love you all,
Doug and Lisa
