Congratulations, Lily Grace Walker!
We are proud to recognize Lily Grace Walker on her appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York, one of the nation’s five federal service academies.
Lily Grace is the daughter of Paul and Heather Walker. She received nominations to the USMMA by Senator Eric Schmitt and Senator Josh Hawley and was selected as one of approximately 280 appointees from around 1,800 applicants from across the nation and the world.
The United States Merchant Marine Academy’s mission is to educate and graduate leaders of exemplary character who are inspired to serve the national security, marine transportation, and economic needs of the United States. Completion of the Academy’s intensive four-year program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree, a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer’s License, and an Ensign’s commission in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
This appointment is the equivalent of a scholarship worth approximately $300,000 over four years. More importantly, it reflects great credit on Lily Grace and demonstrates that she is already living out the Academy’s motto:
“Acta non Verba” — Deeds, not Words.
