This past Saturday, our Young Marines had the honor of giving back to our local veteran community by helping with a yard cleanup and preparation for the installation of a flagpole at the Orenda Veterans Project veterans’ home.

It was a great opportunity for our Young Marines to put teamwork, leadership, and service into action while showing our appreciation to those who have sacrificed and served our country.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Orenda Veterans Project for their generosity in donating Bombas socks to our unit for our Young Marines to use as boot socks!

Our Young Marines absolutely love using Bombas socks, and they were excited to receive more. Your generosity and support mean so much to our unit!

A huge thank you to the Los Angeles Rod and Reel Club (LARRC) for sponsoring another unforgettable deep-sea fishing trip for our unit! This trip is something Young Marines look forward to all year long!

Our Young Marines had an amazing day out on the water, learning about fishing, teamwork, and enjoying the experience. To make the day even more special, the club cleaned all of the fish they caught so they could take them home to enjoy with their families.

Congratulations to YM/PVT Otero for earning 1st Place by catching the first fish of the day! As an added bonus, he also got to take home a large halibut caught by the crew.

Congratulations also to YM/PVT Sandoval, I. for taking 2nd Place by catching the most fish during the trip!

We are incredibly grateful to the Los Angeles Rod & Reel Club for their generosity, hospitality, and for creating such a memorable experience for our Young Marines year after year. Thank you for investing in our youth and making this opportunity possible!

A huge THANK YOU to the High Desert Marines and LeoCollins AmericanLegion Post CA for your generous donations! Because of your support, the Excelsior High Desert Young Marines were able to attend the 1st California Regiment Encampment at Camp Lolek. Without your generosity, this incredible experience would not have been possible.

Our Young Marines had an unforgettable 4 day weekend filled with learning, teamwork, and adventure. They challenged themselves in archery tag, conquered the high ropes course, performed skits, and participated in many other exciting activities. They also had the opportunity to learn from our local Fire Department, who taught them about fire safety, gave them a tour of a fire truck, and let them climb inside. They also received valuable instruction in first aid and self-defense.

The memories, friendships, leadership skills, and confidence they gained will stay with them for years to come.

Thank you, High Desert Marines, for believing in our youth and investing in the next generation of leaders. Your support truly made a difference, and we are incredibly grateful!

Congratulations to our two JLS graduates, YM/CPL Craven and YM/LCPL Olmos!

They spent four days away from family without contact at JLS, they attended Junior Leadership School (JLS), where they developed valuable leadership skills, strengthened their confidence, and prepared to take on greater responsibilities.

We are proud of their dedication and commitment to growing as Young Marines.

We look forward to seeing them bring what they've learned back to the unit and continue setting the example for others.

Thank you Victorville Elks Lodge 1877 for inviting us to participate in your Flag Day ceremony.

Our Young Marines were honored to be part of this meaningful event and to learn more about the history and significance of the American flag. The ceremony highlighted the importance of the different stages and versions of our nation's flag throughout history, reminding us of the sacrifices, achievements, and values that have shaped our country.

We would like to thank the Victorville Elks Lodge 1877 and B.E.S.T Opportunities Inc for their generous support. Because of your contributions, our Young Marines had the incredible opportunity to attend Camp Battleship aboard the USS Iowa!
Our Young Marines experienced life aboard a historic battleship by sleeping in the sailors' berthing areas and enjoying meals in the ship's chow hall. They also received an informative guided tour of the museum, learning about the ship's rich history and the brave men and women who served aboard her.
One of the most fascinating parts of the tour was learning about President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who traveled aboard the USS Iowa. Since President Roosevelt used a wheelchair, he was the only person on the ship with a private bathtub in his quarters. The Young Marines also saw the special chair lift that was used to help transport him to his quarters because he was unable to use the ship's ladders.
The tour also gave our Young Marines a glimpse into daily life at sea. They explored the ship's barbershop, laundry facilities, sleeping quarters, chow hall, and many other areas that helped keep thousands of sailors operating efficiently while deployed around the world.
Another highlight was learning about Victory, the ship's beloved mascot dog. Victory served as a companion to the crew and became a symbol of morale and camaraderie aboard the battleship. Stories like Victory's helped our Young Marines understand that even small parts of a ship's history can have a lasting impact on those who served.

A huge thank you to Lesly’s CPR for coming out and giving a first aid and CPR class to our Young Marines and Recruits. All 22 that attended got certified. This is the second time Lesly comes out to present to our unit and makes it super fun and engaging. The Youmg Marines always love her class and leave with so much knowledge.

One of our biggest missions is giving back to the community that supports us. Especially our veterans.

Over the past two years, we have focused on assisting disabled veterans who are no longer able to maintain their yards. We have proudly organized and completed community service cleanups for veterans and the widows of veterans in our community.

As we continue to grow our efforts, we are currently seeking sponsors to help provide essential yard tools that allow us to better serve those in need. Donations of equipment would make a direct and meaningful impact on our ability to continue this work.

Needed tools include:
Battery powered w**d eater
Battery powered leaf blower
Rakes
Shovels
Work gloves

This past Saturday our unit was invited to EAA Chapter 768 - Apple Valley, CA to take the Young Marines on flights around Victoville. Lots of the Young Marines got to see their homes and schools during their flight. They learned a lot about air planes and got a certificate upon completion. Some of them even got to pilot!
