Yesterday we completed this year's Service Above Self Award program. Using the Four Way Test as the criteria,
area 5th and 8th grade students are chosen by their teachers to receive the award. We presented the awards
at 8 area schools. Thank you to the teachers and club members for making this a great program.

We chose the Venice City Safety Day to present our annual donations to the City Police and Fire Departments. Each year we use proceeds from our Hometown Heroes Banquet to help fund their various community programs. Along with our club and Josh the Otter are Fire Chief Frank Giddens and Police Chief Andy Leisenring. Rotary giving back to the community makes Venice great!

Another great day in Venice at the City Safety Day. As part of a Rotary District Grant our club participated by informing the public about the Josh the Otter program of Swimming Safety for children. We gave out books, coloring books and stickers along with the message of water safety to the parents and children. Our Josh the Otter club member was a big hit!!!

Today was the final performance of this year's Troupe in a Trunk. We all gathered at the Raymond Center of Venice Theatre to cheer the performers who over the last two months have performed the skit for over 7000 Sarasota County students. This year's message was Resilience. They showed several examples of how students can overcome disappointment by gaining the confidence to try again.
Financial support from Venice Suncoast Rotary and a grant from Rotary District 6960 made this great program possible.

Last night’s Venice Suncoast Rotary’s annual Hometown Heroes Banquet at Plantation Golf and Country Club was a great success. A big THANK YOU to the many generous sponsors. Each year the City of Venice Police and Fire departments select the honorees and our club organizes this event to publicly recognize them. Pictures are of the 2026 Police Officer of the year and Captain Eric Hill along with the Fire Department Officer of the Year Battalion Chief Christopher Ripo and Assistant Chief EMS Steven Lambright.
We were also honored by the presence of Mayor Nick Pachota, CEO of Laurel Civic Association Peter Casamento, club President Ginny Duff and Program Coordinator Sandy Pyle Viers. Rotarians at work making Venice the great place that it is!
