Another great day at Laurel Civic!
Members of the Venice Suncoast and Venice Nokomis Rotary clubs presented their $6500 donation to help fund the Kids Cafe program. The program gives a nutritious meal to the children attending the Homework Assistance Program at Laurel. The funds were made possible through a multi club Rotary district 6960 grant. In addition to the contribution, the club members help staff the Cafe every Wednesday during the school year.
Another example of how Rotary helps support our community.

Today is Dictionary Day at Garden Elementary school. As part of our annual Literacy Project, our members were there to distribute a grade appropriate dictionary/gazetteer to each third grader. Their enthusiasm was overwhelming and they couldn’t wait to see what new information awaits them. Of course we talked about “Service Above Self” and its role in school and life. Such a rewarding project. Thanks to Publix for helping us underwrite the cost of the project.

Last night we held our annual Polio Plus fundraiser with a picnic at Colony Place. Our members and guests had fun while also supporting the program.
PolioPlus is Rotary International's flagship humanitarian program launched in 1985 to permanently eradicate the paralyzing and deadly disease of poliomyelitis worldwide.
Rotary members have raised over $2.9 billion and helped immunize more than 3 billion children across 122 countries. The program has helped cut 99.9% of polio cases in the world. Cases remain only in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

There was a big celebration on Saturday evening 9/26/26 as the Venice Suncoast Rotary club celebrated its 50th anniversary! Some 65 members, guests and alumni were present as well as a special visit by District Governor Dennis Wallace. President Bill King emceed the event which was held at the Venetian Golf and River Club. Rotary Foundation Chairman David L***y presented Paul Harris awards to Cindy Rogers Brunner and John Kearney. John is sponsoring a PHF Award for his grandson Rylan. Cheers and here's hoping for another 50!!

We had a busy but productive meeting yesterday with a lot of activity and fellowship.
Our speaker was Erin Duggan from Visit Sarasota with a great presentation on how that organization showcases our area locally and globally.
Blair Post is presented with yet another Paul Harris level pin.
Jeanne Fell of Blue Star Moms is presented with a club donation of $300 to assist with the mailing costs of their organization's Holiday packages to our troops. Rotary in action!

Venice Suncoast Rotary members President Bill King and David Butler, along with their counterparts Alice Murphy and Sara Butler, had a great time supporting the Venice High School's Rotary Futures Annual Fundraiser
this past Saturday, August 22nd at Plantation Golf and Country Club. We are proud to support this great program that has been instrumental in connecting thousands of students of all ages with scholarships to help them advance their education and career goals.

Great visit from DG Dennis Wallace yesterday. In addition to his insights of Rotary and sharing his plans for his 26-27 year, he also presented Paul Harris Fellow awards to members: Don Moore, Barbara Duguay and our current President Bill King. We look forward to seeing him again at our club’s 50 year celebration on 9/26/26.

Great time at the Venice YMCA Endless Summer event! Thank you to the Venice YMCA and our club members, especially David Butler for playing Josh the Otter (aka sweatbox). He was a crowd favorite .😊👍
It was a perfect target audience for Water Safety awareness.
