Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club The Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club is a group of dedicated individuals committed to making a positive impact.

We lead by example, fostering an optimistic outlook for the community and our youth to follow. The purpose of the Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club is to develop Optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendshi

p among all people; to aid and encourage the development of youth in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world. For almost 40 years the Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club has focused their time, money, energy and resources into the kids of our community and proudly embrace our slogan, “Friend of Youth.” We do things like sponsoring youth athletic leagues. We support educational contests among youth organizations. We sponsor kids in their daily activities to better themselves and their communities. All Optimists are different, but we share one common trait – we know that we can make a difference in the lives of others, especially the youth in our community. Programs We Support:

Last week we celebrated an amazing 50th anniversary of our golf outing at Cassel Hills Golf Course. Thank you to WDTN-TV for covering this special milestone!

We’re off to a great start at our 50th Anniversary Golf Outing at Cassel Hills Golf Course, which is truly the "Granddaddy of Them All!"

Much like the Rose Bowl earned its legendary nickname from Keith Jackson, our milestone outing has brought together generations of members, friends, and supporters to celebrate five decades of memories, camaraderie. During our opening ceremonies, we paid tribute to the late Beau Townsend, recognizing his many years of unwavering support and dedication to our community. We were also honored to have Butler High School outgoing senior Kara Silver perform a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, helping make this milestone celebration even more memorable. Thank you to Beau Townsend Ford for being a tremendous supporter, and celebrating their 50th anniversary!

As we wrap up another outstanding school year, we were honored to join the Vandalia-Butler Octagon Club this week in recognizing and thanking the incredible teachers and administrators with a luncheon at Butler High School for their dedication to our students each and every day.

A special thank you to Octagon Club advisors Mrs. Kovacs and Mrs. Schuring, along with Optimist/Octagon Club liaison Mary Kay Smith, for being such positive ambassadors for our community and inspiring role models for our students. Your leadership and commitment make a lasting impact!
