Several members of Trotwood Madison E.A. recently attended the OEA Minority Leadership Training Program in Columbus. It provides participants, particularly OEA members of color, with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully serve as leaders at all levels of the Association–local, district, state and national.
These are comments from the participants:
*Empowers members of color, It equips educators of color with the essential leadership skills, organizational knowledge and strategic tools needed to confidently step into influential roles.
*Drive Diversity and Inclusion: It provides year-round support and mentorship to match your personal leadership interests with open opportunities, ensuring the OEA grows as a deeply inclusive diverse organization.
*Cultivate multi-level influence: It prepares participants to actively lead, advocate, and govern across every single tier of the Association, from local and district levels all the way up to state and national platforms.
*I enjoyed it. It was a good way to understand how I can better serve. It was a great way to network and find out exactly what types of opportunities are available for leadership and education. The networking and dialogue was beneficial because you are able to share and hear what other districts are doing and experiencing.
*Connecting with other professionals and peers who share common goals and similar experiences.
*Learn how to navigate workplace barriers, grow professionally and run for leadership roles.
*Opportunities to hear a keynote speaker, networking sessions and conversations about the workshop topics.
