Porter County 4-H introduces youth to life skills while preparing young people to be leaders in their community and around the world through hands-on experiences alongside peers and adults. It is also the largest youth serving organization in the country. It is a volunteer-led organization that reaches youth through a variety of programs in both rural and urban settings. 4-H provides fun, educatio

nal opportunities at the local, state, national, and international levels. 4-H programs are hands-on, age-appropriate, and university-based. 4-H helps youth improve their self-confidence; learn subject matter; and develop important skills including leadership, citizenship, communication, and decision-making that can be applied over a lifetime. For older teens, 4-H also offers opportunities to develop and test their leadership skills as 4-H volunteers and working with youth. For Adults, 4-H offers opportunities for training in a variety of areas including youth development, instruction, and more.

Proud to announce our 2026 4-H Summer Media Intern - Zoe Pressel!

She is a communications student at Valparaiso University hoping to graduate in 2029. She was a ten year 4-H member at LaPorte County. She has a passion for all things 4-H and animals. She graduated from Tri-Township High School.

You may receive communication from her this summer as we gear up for the busy season!

CALLING ALL LIVESTOCK EXHIBITORS!! Join the Indiana State Fair Livestock staff for a Zoom meeting to explain, clarify, and answer questions about rules before entries open. The meeting will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 7PM EST. All are welcome to join! Zoom link will be posted on Facebook 45 minutes before the meeting starts.

Don’t miss these important Porter County 4-H deadlines for youth exhibiting livestock and participating in summer opportunities:

βœ… Last call for Youth Enrollment with Payment who are exhibiting livestock
βœ… Animal IDs due in 4-H Online for beef, dairy cattle, goats, equine, sheep, and swine
βœ… Cat, Dog, & Pigeon paperwork due to the Extension Office
βœ… Livestock DNA samples due for State Fair eligibility
βœ… Camp registration for campers closes

Please make sure all items are completed and submitted by tomorrow, May 15!

Thank you to Chesterton Fire Department Captain Heather Compton for allowing our Mini 4-H'ers come for some fire station fun last night. Kiddos got to learn about the gear our firefighters wear, sit in a fire truck, spray a fire hose, and tour the fire station.
