Porter County 4-H - Purdue Extension

Porter County 4-H - Purdue Extension Contact us today to learn more on how we help youth thrive. 4-H is the only federally authorized youth serving organization.

Porter County 4-H introduces youth to life skills while preparing young people to be leaders in their community and around the world through hands-on experiences alongside peers and adults. It is also the largest youth serving organization in the country. It is a volunteer-led organization that reaches youth through a variety of programs in both rural and urban settings. 4-H provides fun, educatio

nal opportunities at the local, state, national, and international levels. 4-H programs are hands-on, age-appropriate, and university-based. 4-H helps youth improve their self-confidence; learn subject matter; and develop important skills including leadership, citizenship, communication, and decision-making that can be applied over a lifetime. For older teens, 4-H also offers opportunities to develop and test their leadership skills as 4-H volunteers and working with youth. For Adults, 4-H offers opportunities for training in a variety of areas including youth development, instruction, and more.

If your county is NOT hosting a County contest, your youth may participate in the Area Date as their County and Area Run. If your county is hosting a county contest, the youth need to participate in that date to qualify for the Area Contest. Feel free to reach out to me individually to discuss this 😊

As a reminder, each youth can only compete in ONE tractor at the Area level. If they qualify for multiple tractors at the county level, they need to select what tractor they will be riding at the Area Contest.
