Te Ryu Dojo

Te Ryu Dojo The Te Ryu Dojo teaches Okinawan Uechi Ryu Karate (pronounced way chee roo). Classes are offered at no charge.

The Uechi Ryu Karate style was developed by Kanbun Uechi, a native of Okinawa, who traveled to southern China at the turn of the century and studied various martial arts styles. However, in exchange for each hour of instruction students “pay” for classes by performing community service. Over the years this simple idea has resulted in thousands of hours of community service being performed right here in our own back yard.

UPDATE: We woke up to rain and wet leaves this morning, so we will be meeting up to rake TOMORROW, Sunday, November 23 at 10AM instead.

Group Community Service Opportunity this Saturday, November 22!

Come join us at the North Chatham Free Library (4287 Route 203, North Chatham, 12132) at 9AM to help us rake leaves. If you have them available, please bring the appropriate Implements of Leafy Destruction (a rake and gloves, plus warm clothes and water to drink. If you have a spare tarp or leaf scoops, those would be welcome too!)

Many hands make light work, so the more folks show up, the faster we'll finish!

Community Service Opportunity this weekend!

This Saturday, November 15th from 10AM-12PM, volunteers are needed to help fill Thanksgiving bags with donations from the Regional Food Bank to distribute to low income families in the area.

Please meet at the Alliance For Positive Health at 160 Fairview Ave in Hudson (the office is located by the Planet Fitness, in the small strip mall that includes the Greene County Bank.) You'll enter through the double glass doors and go upstairs, walk down a short hallway, then turn left at the end of the hall on the left.
