Need Medical Equipment or Have Equipment to Donate? VRS H.E.L.P. Just Made It Easier!

The Valatie Rescue Squad Health Care Equipment Lending Program (H.E.L.P.) continues to grow at an incredible pace, and we have now made it easier for community members, families, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare providers to request equipment or donate equipment to the program.

You can now use our dedicated H.E.L.P. page:
https://www.valatierescue.org/vrshelp
The online form can currently be used to:
- Request healthcare equipment
- Donate equipment to the H.E.L.P. Program
- If you have equipment you would like to donate, we ask that you please use the online form whenever possible.

This helps us collect the necessary contact and equipment information before coordinating the donation.
We are also working on adding an option for equipment returns, so individuals returning borrowed equipment will soon be able to use the same online page as well.

Because our inventory is constantly changing as equipment is borrowed, returned, and donated, the online request form includes our different equipment categories and allows you to select the items you or your patient may need.
And just how much has this program grown?
- 804 pieces of medical equipment are now part of the H.E.L.P. Program
- 492 pieces are currently loaned out and being used in our communities
- 134 items were lent out in July alone, setting another monthly record
- 462 individual people have received equipment through H.E.L.P. since the program began.

These numbers do not include the large amount of disposable medical supplies we distribute. They also do not include the volume of incoming equipment requests, equipment returns, donation requests, and other H.E.L.P.-related calls being handled every day.
What started as a way to make unused healthcare equipment available to people who needed it has grown into a program moving well over 100 pieces of equipment into the community every month.
That growth has also resulted in a tremendous increase in phone calls. We are now regularly handling equipment requests, donations, returns, and general questions throughout the day. Using the online page helps us collect the information we need, keep requests organized, and spend more time actually getting equipment into the hands of the people who need it.
If you need equipment or would like to donate equipment, please use the H.E.L.P. page whenever possible:

We also want your feedback. If you have comments, suggestions, or ideas for improving the H.E.L.P. Program or the online form, please let us know. If there is something you would like to see added, changed, or made easier to use, we would appreciate hearing from you. The program has grown because of the support and needs of our community, and we want to continue improving it as it grows.
Please share this post. You never know when a friend, family member, neighbor, or patient may need equipment—or when someone may have equipment sitting unused that could help another person.

A huge thank you to The Bank of Greene County for awarding Valatie Volunteer Rescue Squad a $1,000 grant to support the upgrade of our portable radios!

Reliable communication is absolutely critical in EMS. Whether we’re coordinating with other responders, communicating with dispatch, or managing an emergency scene, our portable radios are an essential part of keeping our crews connected and our operations running safely and effectively.

Your support will help us replace and upgrade some of our aging radio equipment, ensuring our providers remain safe and connected.

We are incredibly grateful to the Bank of Greene County for its continued investment in local organizations and for supporting the work we do every day.

Thank you for helping us stay connected when it matters most! šŸš‘šŸ“»

Yesterday's flooding presented some unique operational challenges for our agency, but thanks to the incredible support of our community partners, we were able to continue serving the residents of our district and the county without interruption.

A sincere thank you to the Niverville Fire Department Inc. for graciously allowing us to utilize the pavilion at Station #1 to shelter our reserve ambulances and keep them protected and ready for service.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Village of Valatie, New York for opening the Valatie Senior Center to our overnight crews. By utilizing beds and other supplies from our HELP Program, we were able to quickly establish temporary crew quarters, ensuring our personnel remained rested, available, and ready to respond to emergencies throughout the night.

We are happy to report that the flood waters around our headquarters have now receded significantly, and we are hopeful that all of our equipment and personnel will be back operating from our primary station later today.

This event serves as another reminder of the strength of our community and what can be accomplished when organizations work together during challenging circumstances. We are incredibly grateful for the support shown to our crews.

As conditions continue to improve, we ask everyone to remain vigilant around any remaining flood waters. Please do not drive through flooded roadways, use caution around areas that may have been undermined by the water, and continue to monitor local conditions.

Thank you for your continued support, and as always, stay safe.

A huge THANK YOU to the Niverville Fire Department Inc. for allowing us to temporarily park our ambulances at their Station 1. Our crews are working out of our training center today thanks to help from Valatie, and Town of Kinderhook!

Our parking lot is nearly impassable, with approximately nine inches of water flowing through it. One of our storage sheds and our fuel tanks are underwater, and the water has reached our back door.

It is on days like today that we are reminded why finding a suitable location for a new station is so important.

Please stay off the roads whenever possible and allow emergency personnel the space they need to respond and mitigate the damage caused by this incredible storm.

For anyone in need of durable medical equipment, please call us to schedule a pickup for sometime next week. We will need some time to assess the damage and begin cleaning up.

Don’t worry, we’re still here to help with your medical emergencies.

Please stay safe, everyone!
