At Human Technologies, our Commercial Cleaning Services and Facilities Management Services teams work across a wide range of facilities, taking pride in the details that often go unnoticed, from maintaining clean floors and common areas to helping create environments where employees, customers, students, patients, and visitors can feel comfortable and welcome.

This October, we’re celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and this year’s theme: “Celebrating Value and Talent.”

At Human Technologies, we see that value and talent every day.

We see it in the skills our employees bring to their work. We see it in the ideas they contribute, the problems they solve, the relationships they build, and the pride they take in doing their jobs well.

Our mission is rooted in creating meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities. But meaningful employment isn’t simply about providing a job. It’s about creating an environment where people can put their abilities to work, develop their skills, contribute to something bigger, and build careers they can be proud of.

From Human Technologies to Capitol Hill.

Nearly a year ago, Congressman John W. Mannion visited Human Technologies, where he met members of our team and saw firsthand the people, mission and work behind the Program.

Last week, members of the HT team had the honor of presenting Congressman Mannion with his AbilityOne Congressional Champion recognition during SourceAmerica 2026 Grassroots Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C.

Making the experience even more special, HT’s Adam Barnes was there as a self-advocate, bringing his voice and experience to Capitol Hill and representing our mission on the national stage.

Trailblazer (noun): a person who is paving the way for others to follow.

This weekend, we had the opportunity to celebrate some incredible trailblazers right here in our community.

As a proud sponsor of Mohawk Valley Challengers Day at a Utica Pioneers Football game, Human Technologies joined the Pioneers for an afternoon that put inclusion, opportunity, and community front and center. And at halftime, our employees traded the sidelines for the field to take on the Mohawk Valley Challengers in a flag football matchup of our own! 🏈

The Mohawk Valley Challengers are trailblazers in their own right. By creating opportunities for athletes with differing abilities, they’re helping pave the way for greater inclusion in sports and beyond.

At HT, we’re working to pave our own path by creating meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities and others facing barriers to employment. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to discover their strengths, contribute their talents, and find purpose in meaningful work.

Different missions. Different paths. But a shared belief that opportunity can open doors and help create a more inclusive community.

We’re incredible grateful to the Mohawk Valley Challengers and Utica University for their partnership and for helping make this day possible. Most of all, we’re proud to have shared the field with the Challengers and celebrate everything they represent.

Behind every conversation about disability employment is a person with a story.

Our team recently traveled to Washington, D.C. for the SourceAmerica Grassroots Advocacy Conference, where we had the opportunity to connect with advocates, community leaders, and organizations working to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

But one of the most meaningful moments came from one of our own.

Adam, a Human Technologies production worker, took the stage to share his story about what meaningful employment means to him. From building his skills to becoming part of a team and finding purpose in his work, Adam’s experience puts a very personal face on the importance of creating opportunities for people with disabilities.

At HT, we see Adam’s strengths. We see the contributions he makes every day, the pride he takes in his work, his attention to detail, and the value he brings to our team. And we know his story is just one of many.

That’s why opportunities to share employee stories like Adam’s are so important. The conversation around disability employment isn’t just about statistics or policy, it’s about people! It’s about creating pathways to meaningful work, independence, confidence, connection, and purpose.

We’re incredibly proud of Adam for sharing his story and grateful to SourceAmerica for giving him the platform to make his voice heard. We’re also thankful for the opportunity to connect with others who share our commitment to expanding meaningful employment opportunities.

There’s more than one way to communicate. There’s more than one way to connect.

This National Deaf Awareness Month, we’re taking time to learn more about Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), and the experiences of members of the Deaf community.

At Human Technologies, we believe an inclusive workplace starts with understanding one another. That means creating opportunities for people to bring their abilities, talents, and perspectives to work and making sure everyone has the support they need to thrive.

Throughout the month, we’ll be learning alongside Dennis as he shares his experiences, teaches us some ASL, and helps us better understand Deaf culture.

Follow along this month as we learn, connect, and celebrate the power of inclusion. 🤟

The work behind the scenes matters.

Our Human Technologies Commercial Cleaning Services team at the Alexander Pirnie Federal Building in Utica was recently praised for their hard work and dedication in preparing the building ahead of Judge David Hurd’s retirement.

While their work often happens behind the scenes, our CCS team plays an important role in keeping the Federal Building clean, welcoming, and ready for the people who work and visit there every day. Their attention to detail and pride in their work make a difference, and it’s always meaningful to see that effort recognized.

At HT, we’re proud of the opportunities our CCS team has to put their skills to work every day. Their work is a great example of how meaningful employment creates value not only for our employees, but for the customers and communities we serve.

We’re grateful to our Federal Building CCS team for the care, dedication, and purpose they bring to their work. Your efforts don’t go unnoticed!

And as Judge Hurd begins his retirement, we’d like to extend our sincere congratulations and best wishes. Thank you for your years of service and dedication to the Northern District of New York and the Utica community. We wish you all the best in this next chapter!

Opportunity is what creates lasting impact.

That message was at the heart of a recent visit from NYSID, Purchasing That Powers Employment.

NYSID is visiting member agencies across New York as part of the work surrounding the Rockefeller Institute of Government research into the economic and social impact of disability service providers and NYSID member agencies. The 2026 report highlights the significant employment and economic contributions these organizations make across New York State.

For us, the visit was an opportunity to show what the impact looks like right here at HT. Our employees aren’t defined by their disabilities. They’re workers, teammates, problem-solvers, creators, and contributors. And when given meaningful opportunities, they bring incredible value to the workplace and the communities around them.

We’re grateful to NYSID for taking the time to visit, learn more about our operations, meet our employees, and see the power of meaningful employment in action.

A special thank you to Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon and Mayor Mike Galime for joining us and showing their support for disability employment and the work being done right here in our community. We appreciate you taking the time to be part of this important conversation.
